That's fair enough but I'm still pleased Farke didn't bring Piroe on with with 30 mins left as some have called for.

Think he'd have been fine ... for Okafor. Gnonto would have been my choice though

I was with you on Gnonto until I watched him try and defend last Sunday.

Key stone kops clearance at one point.

Tried to clear it and it went about twenty feet high and one foot forward.

Our Daniel likes a bit more from his players.

I remember that clearance and to be fair that could happen to any player

Nice cameo from Piroe against Manure.

Easily our most effective sub.

Best moment - His audacious shot onto the roof of the net.

Poor pen from JP , having only played 60ish minutes since August he was rusty.

But it was his lovely pass that set up the pen.

He also hit the post

Then 2nd half he got much better.

Great dummy for the 1st.

Lovely pass in build up to his eventual shot which lead to the 2nd.

With a goalie less on it he scores 2 or 3 as well.

Showed how clever he is and his vision and weight of pass if he was a bit off /unlucky with his shots.

Yay JP.

Had an excellent game, some might say he found his level. For me at this point the jury is out. I think he would do well in a top end Premier League team where he would get the type of space that he got today.

Thought his shot that hit the post was so unlucky, it was realistically the only place he could put it and was millimetres away from scoring. Penalty was okay, keeper read it but far worse penalties have gone into the net. Great dummy for Gnonto's goal, great pass for the penalty, cracking shot for Tanaka's goal. Have always felt he will have a part to play this season and I still feel that.

I see that on January 8, 2026, Piroe made his one time switch to play for SURINAME. The small South American country will face off against Bolivia in March. That match to be played in Monterey, Mexico. If they win, they will then play the winner of Iraq vs Congo for a place in the 2026 World Cup to be played in the USA.

YEP clarifying the situation with JP.

Is interest from top level clubs abroad as their was in the summer.

But the Club aren't trying to sell JP and neither is he pushing for a move as he wants to stay and fight for his place and prove himself in the Prem.

All can change of course.

Didn't know his full name is Joël Mohammed Ramzan Piroe.

Why has Piroe switched from the Netherlands where he played at various youth levels for the Dutch to play for a tinpot country Suriname?

There's still the possibility that Piroe could turn out to be a very useful PL player.

The question is though can we risk a run of 6 or so games with him in the starting line whilst we find out ? Farke made his choice at the beginning of the season and so far it's working out, plus don't forget Piroe went missing in that play off final when we needed someone to step up.

So did Daniel Farke when Russell Martin got the better of him for the 3rd time. . . . .

I'm pleased for Joel that he will get to play International football and notice the Assistant of Suriname is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who was a fantastic striker and I'd imagine is better at coaching top level strikers than any of our coaching staff so hopefully can help Joel.

Would you take the risk though of putting Piroe in the starting eleven for the next run of games ?

For me Farke is correct to stick with what's currently working.

As did Rutter, Summerville etc. Farke did amazing to get as much as he did for the one trick ponies.

Joel's Dad is from Surinam.

My guess is he wants to play in the World Cup. It appears his last appearance for the Dutch was at the U19 level in 2019. And Surinam has a legitimate chance to quality for the World Cup. Surinam, although located in South America, plays in CONCACAF. And with the USA, Mexico, and Canada hosting the WC this summer, there are 3 other slots available for CONCACAF. Surinam was actually pretty decent in qualifying. And they now find themselves in a playoff for the final spot in the tournament. I think it's Piroe's best shot to ever play in a World Cup.

Wouldnt like to see Piroe leave the club. Its a shame he doesnt feature more for us but its one of those situations that some players have to suffer from time to time, due to various reasons.
He is a very good player but maybe not at Premiership level ?
I cant see him getting too many starts if we continue to play well and pick up points. If we do that, then maybe Farke will start to rotate players on a more regular basis and we get to see Piroe more and he can prove one way or another if he is up to the job.

I would assume Piroe realises he's not good enough to play for Dutch, so he has taken the next best alternative option.

It's difficult to ignore an opportunity to play in a World Cup tournament.

I wouldn't change much no, all be it we didn't win the last game of course.

But I would have him above Nmecha and bloody Okafor in the pecking order.

Maybe if DCL off then Nmecha on but for the 2nd spot in the front 2 100% have Piroe with DCL/Nmecha.

I think Piroe would compliment them well, he worked well with Nmecha.

He's different, he's more technical and intelligent, you need that imo.

How Okafor has kept getting starts I'll never know, presumably a DF pick.

But Piroe over him in the front 2 every single day imo.
