If the two halves were reversed last night we would be hailing a great performance and comeback and all would be rosy in the garden this morning but we would still only have 1 point.
I said during the game that our lads had put in a massive shift in the first half and we would need to use our subs wisely but for whatever reason DF either doesn’t trust our bench or doesn’t know how to use it. Aaronson was everywhere in the first half but we know he’s going to run out of steam at some point so we need to plan for that but our subs made us weaker instead of stronger.
In a game we could have won and equally could have lost a point away is still a good result but these dropped points and lost opportunities could come back to haunt us, the Arsenal game is a bit of a free hit but the Forest game could be the first of a few cup finals for us.
I’ll repost these stats to keep things in perspective.
No side has lost fewer Premier League games since the start of December than Leeds United (one), while only Aston Villa (22), Manchester City (21), Arsenal (20), Manchester United and Fulham ( both 17 ), have collected more points in that time than their 15.
Not bad for a newly promoted team.
All good points.
Jeez, that’s a difficult thing for me to say.

As for Brenden last night, he spent the second-half, constantly making poor passes & losing possession, he wasn't the only guilty culprit.
I agree with others, he simply ran out of steam, I said as much during the game. If I knew it - and it was Stevie Wonder who told me - why didnt our manager? And if he did, why didn’t he do something about it?
I prefer DF as our manager, but by heck he frustrates me at times.

We fully deserved a point at least. However IMO we must stop the tippy tappy passing just outside, or even inside, our penalty area. One false pass is likely to end in disaster as it almost did on two occasions.
Not so sure I agree with the tippy tappy description, I thought we mainly were passing sharp (certainly in the first) and we didn’t adapt well in the second. Everton’s press made it difficult for us to get out, so rather than boot the ball away - because it just kept coming back - we went for a possessive approach, which equally didn’t work.
For me the tippy tappy game is when our defenders - under no pressure - go right to left, back again, wear our keeper out, and get nowhere. I didn’t see much of that last night.
Harsh to rate the first 3 on just a few minutes. A damned if you do damned if you don't time for Farke in regard to the timing of the subs. Fans moaning about him not making subs yet we were still 1-0 up before he made the first change and Tanaka played a part in our concession. It isn't always easy to get into the speed pace of the game as a sub. The other midfield option was Longstaff who looked rusty and it is more likely that he will start in the cup match. Okafor coming on does boost our attack but equally he is capable of losing the ball cheaply and then doing nothing to win it back (which happened last night).
Maybe with no subs made we go on to win the match despite not playing great second half. Maybe as the match wore on Everton would overcommit in their search for an equaliser but our shape, with Gruev part of it, restricts them and we breakaway for a second goal. All hypotheticals but just the same as saying making changes would have had the desired effect. The last 3 maybe gave us a little more late threat but equally that was maybe just a case of Everton had run themselves into the ground in the second half - so maybe us having the fresh subs then gave us our best chance of winning the game.
Moyes had the luxury of bringing on two subs at half time - Braithwaite who had been linked with Real Madrid, Man U and others for £50m+ recently and Dewsbury-Hall who has moved twice for around £30m each time. Not surprising that they made Everton look better.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

We could have quite feasibly lose the game had we brought on those subs earlier.
Again, we should be much higher in the table based on last couple of months
We NEED to be beating the west hams/ burnleys etc........ no point putting in a shift against the big boys, coming off with a point/ unlucky but then not getting 3 points against burnley

Still think the missed shot by DCL was the difference though... point is a decent result, albeit frustrating
Somebody said the shot was on goal, but was slightly deflected on to the goalpost. But I have not seen a replay to confirm that. Either way it was a good strike and a bit unlucky!
I haven't seen the footage, but there's a story going around that in the build up to Everton's goal it's started from a foul throw in by Dewsbury-Hall.
Surely, VAR should have checked this and chalked the goal off?

Refs rarely blow foul throws these days. Bit of a bug bear of mine and a large % of throws are fouls.
Some players don’t seem to know what a legal throw looks like.

No deflection on the shot, slight one on the cross which wouldn't have affected DCL
