I don't rate Nmecha as a striker..

Based upon what evidence of him as a PL player ?

Hopefully you're right but the truth is none of us know because he's hardly played PL football. My own view is that he'd be adequate at best and given our current position that may well be enough, especially as it's the team as a whole that would get us over the line and not any one individual player.

Based on 0 evidence as a Premier League player because he's barely played.

But he's still a better link player, finisher and technical footballer than DCL, Nmecha or BA.

Played in the right style I'm absolutely certain he's do well.

Bare in mind style is crucial, wrong style and most players struggle (see BA and DCL).

Ploddy ball won't suit him same as it didn't suit them.

Get the ball forward quickly and players he can play off around him he'd do well imo.

We saw in his brief cameo vs Manure that he has value at this level if he's allowed to get his fitness and confidence back.

Fulham may disagree.

No goals or assists in four games, two of those against Derby & Sheff Wed schoolboys. Missed a penalty at Derby.

Only championship clubs showed any interest in Joel as they know his level.

Piroe is a good, neat footballer & a prolific championship striker.

I truly hope he proves me wrong as I have no doubt we'll need him to produce the goods as the season draws on.

bring him on from the bench with 20 mins to play
Leeds need to bring in a midfielder who can score goals and a decent number 9 in Jan 2027.

Five goals & one assist from Nmecha is a good return from a free signing in & out of the starting XI

I don't think that proves anything, he's low on confidence and fitness. Calvert-Lewin had 1 goal in 10 odd games at one point.

We saw this exact thing with people like Gnonto and Paddy in the Championship when Farke was giving them 5 minutes.

Players need time to get fit.

He was unlucky vs Derby, yes he missed a pen but the Derby keeper played a blinder hence motm.

Only Championship clubs haven't shown an interest in Joel, other top European league clubs did as well and let's not forget he turned down Premier League interest to join us.

I don't see why some wish to write him off.

We actually play a system now that suits him, but Farke seems absolutely determined not to use him.

Doesn't help though because if we do need him he won't be match fit.

With due respect, I do think you make things up at times to suit your own agenda, Cjay.

And I haven't written Piroe off yet, as I reckon we might need him at some point.

I just don't think he is Premier League standard, he went missing in the Championship in several games.

If he is that good, why have the Dutch never considered him at International level? Piroe has chosen a tin-pot nation for a bit of glory.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong about Joel, time will tell.

Not a number 9 though, he's a glorified winger. I wouldn't start Okafor or Solomon (say) as the 9 either

Nmecha is described on football sites as an attacking midfielder or a forward.

I can assure you I don't.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailym ... -move.html

Sky Sports also reported the same, Premier League clubs approached Swansea for him multiple times.

And The Athletic reported he had Premier League interest (confirmed by himself in an interview) but turned it down to join us.

All can be checked.

Again the international thing is ludicrous, how many Championship players play for decent international teams? Quarter finalists at the last World Cup and Semi Finalists at the last Euros.

We can agree to disagree.

The missing thing is also imo irrelevant and a misconception, DCL averages 28 touches per 90 minutes this season, Piroe 48 (more touches in the opposition box as well on average) yet Piroe is the one who goes missing? It's all perception.

I firmly believe you are wrong but it relies on Daniel Farke giving him more minutes to get fit and playing to his strengths.

If he does neither of those things JP would struggle like even Messi would.

I just wonder if it is worth risking Piroe.

If we were in Sunderlands position and have a handful of free hits to play with then maybe.

But we dont.

Good luck JP.

Few LUFC connections

Hasselbaink on the coaching staff.

And a now 28 year old Jay-Roy Grot is in the squad as well

Good luck Joel... The Netherlands (Holland was so much easier) are deep in talent so always difficult to get in that team especially as he hasn't had any first team action this season...

Most technically gifted player at the club ,reminds me of Teddy Sheringham and i bet because Joel does not rely on pace he also keeps playing in to his 40's .
Shame we don't see more of him.

Good comparison.

Teddy an upgrade on Piroe, with over 700 career appearances, 550 at the highest level, plus 50+ caps for England.

I see where you are coming from though!
