He was very subdued after the game, even when they were doing the lap of honour it looked half hearted. I hope it’s not a bad omen.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Sun May 17, 2026 7:05 pm He didnt say " see you all next season " he must be leaving![]()

Don't forget he seemed subdued at the end of last season. Maybe it is that it is more relief with him rather than jumping for joy.

He knows when to step back and allow the team to have their moment with the fans.

I’ve seen him more animated after less significant games but maybe as others have said it’s just a modesty thing

Re: Daniel Farke
we talk about the historic win at old Trafford but when was the last time we beat Brighton at ER... I'm thinking in the reign of Steve Evans. Enquiring minds want to know.

According to the commentators pre-match we’d never beaten them at ER in the Premier League.
They were always a bogey team in the EFL.

Give Byram a cigar for that pass and the resulting foul up, that led in the goal. A fitting end to his leeds career.

Re: Daniel Farke
I like the quiet contemplation from Daniel Farke.
He must’ve had doubts he could achieve what he has.
Plenty of people doubted him and he has proved himself in a very classy way.
However it’s only because he changed things v Man City way back when the useless twat
A small jest

Re: Daniel Farke
It has been suggested that it is arrogant of Farke to ask for control of footballing descisions, yyou only get that if you are Fergie Venger or Pep and have won titles or trophies.
But yes, Daniel Farke should be given (or rather, allowed to retain) substantial control over footballing decisions at Leeds United, provided the club shares his ambition for sustainable progress rather than mere survival.
His track record shows he performs best with clear authority, similar to the examples of Wenger, Ferguson, and Pep.
Farke's Record at Leeds (as of mid-2026)
Appointed in summer 2023 after relegation.
Won the Championship title (promotion back to Premier League).
Successfully steered Leeds to Premier League survival in 2025/26 (one year ahead of many expectations, breaking some historical patterns for newly promoted sides).
Strong overall win rate at Leeds (~50%), though his Premier League numbers are modest (typical for a club of Leeds' current resources).
He has a proven ability to build cohesive, hard-working squads that punch above expectations, especially when he can shape recruitment and culture.
Why Giving Him Control Makes Sense
He was hired as a "manager," not just a head coach, and was given significant footballing authority from the start (final say on many sporting matters).
This has delivered promotion and survival. Changing to a more restrictive structure now risks undermining what has worked.
Recent statements: Farke has publicly made it clear he will only stay and lead the next phase if he remains "in charge" with final decisions on the football operation. He wants the club to match his ambition (keep key players, improve the squad meaningfully) rather than settle for another relegation scrap.
Like Wenger at Arsenal in 1996, Farke was given trust relatively early in his "big club" journey. It paid off. Restricting proven performers often leads to short-term thinking and worse results.
Important Caveats
Control does not mean total dictatorship: Modern football benefits from collaboration (scouting networks, data, sporting director input). Leeds has a sporting director (Adam Underwood) and reports suggest a side-by-side model rather than one person ruling everything. Alignment between Farke, the SD, and ownership (49ers Enterprises / Paraag Marathe) is key.
His Premier League record isn't elite yet. Control should come with accountability, clear targets for the next 1-2 seasons (e.g., mid-table consolidation, not just survival).
If the 49ers want a pure "sporting director-led" model with the manager as implementer only, they should hire accordingly and not string Farke along.
Bottom line: Farke has earned the right to lead the football side at Leeds because the results under his control have been positive. Clubs that grant real authority to competent, long-term thinkers (when aligned with ownership) tend to build more sustainably than those with constant interference.
If Leeds believes in him for the next phase, they should back him with both resources and meaningful say, or risk losing him and resetting progress.
This mirrors the Ferguson/Wenger model more than a rigid modern committee in many cases. The summer 2026 window and contract talks will be telling.
