The trouble is that both of those can be very easily, and logically explained. Rads skint so he wants to sell Harrison - maybe to actually keep funding the club. 49ers see it as strengthening a relegation and say, "we will provide the funds, you don't need to sell." So not really like they are running the club but providing the money that Rads doesn't have and as such we don't need to sell. Whether they rate Harrison or not at that time he is a first team player for us and Leicester a direct, and cheating, rival.
Orta pops up and says, "We can sign Rutter." Orta being the bullsh*t merchant that he is tells the club how great Rutter is etc. Again Rads has not got a pot to p*ss in so the 49ers stump up the cash after falling for Orta's bs thinking they are signing the next Messi, thinking they are signing a player that will keep us up and protect their investment. So they are investing more simply to try to protect their investment.
As such not meddling, rather helping the skint Rads and trying to protect their investment at a time when they were minority holders but still had a sizeable asset that could quickly diminish in value. Likely they also would have secured various assurances in regard to the extra money they were putting in, maybe getting an agreement that Rads would sell them more shares, agree an asking price etc.
So bystanders in terms of trying to help the club without really knowing the business and trusting Orta.
It's just not how they work, a Google gives a very good insight into VC funds.
Radz had to pitch to them, sell the idea to them.
For their money they got board seats, voting rights, veto power and major say on any major decisions which may impact the value of the asset.
Day to day running Radz through Kinnear.
But anything major they had the absolute right to have a say.
Managers, transfers, contracts, sponsorship etc.
If they were too naive or inexperienced that's one thing.
On Marathe as an educated and experienced executive to know, thats what he's paid for.
But having no clue as in total ignorance and playing the "I didn't know bro" card? I think investors would see that as negligence.
You would if it was your money as would anyone, hence why I just don't think it's true.
They wouldn't have kept Kinnear on and been open to Orta staying if they were as blindsided as they let on.
