Tyzy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2026 6:34 pm Everyone seems happy with this signing so it must be good news. I've never heard of him until I saw him play in England's last game at the World Cup but then I'm not someone who's totally engrossed in football outside of Leeds Utd.
I'm not surprised my dear Tyzy. ;-)

20% sell on and happy for them to have a match price addition.

No 'Buy back' clause is brilliant! I guess that's why we paid over-the-odds? This guy will be England's #1 within 12 months I imagine so it's a gteat signing all-ends-up...

Still means Man City would pay less and we'd get less though?

If we accept a £70mil offer.
They get 20% of that so £14mil
We get £56mil not £70mil.

It's not much different really from a buyback

But atleast if that does happen he'd have to do well :)

They would get 20% of the profit NOT 20% of the total dippy! That would be 20% of £30m so £6m. We'd get a tasty £64m, a tidy profit of £24m...

Doesn't say that.

Just says "sell on clause".

It is hardly ever of the whole fee! I doubt we would have agreed to that. The Oracle will know: let's slip over to weasel's easel and see what he writes...

Yeah it would be super-weird if it was on the whole fee as Citeh have a 'matching fee' clause which would open us up for to the possibility of 'price bumping' by another team...

I read 20% of profit which is the only way it makes sense, otherwise you could owe them if you sell for a loss..

The same clauses that were included when they sold him to Burnley. As such when Newcastle bid £31m for him last summer City matched the fee but it worked out as £27m because of the sell on % that City effectively paid to themselves.
