To sum Gnonto up I would say, odd flashes of brilliant stuff but mostly average stuff with moments where he switches off defensively.
IMO based on what I have seen over the last four seasons.
All very true
Willy is a good player but the players with real potential make the most of what they are given and prove they deserve a place in the side all the time. As much as i like Gnonto he hasn't done enough, often enough to say i deserve my place in the team and you cant drop me.
Farke see`s these players day in, day out and knows exactly what they can or cant bring to the team. You have to trust someone who knows what he's talking about over some fans who get carried away with a player they love and who they fail to see their weaknesses.

If you are correct in your judgment than why aren't any of the Top 8 clubs coming in for him ?

Obviously it's possible that they might have done and it could be the case that we're continually turning down large offers for one of our fringe players.

Or on the other hand it could be that you overrate him :)

Why didn't they come in for Muharemovic or Brandt? It's way more likely you under rate him...

As I think Gnonto does have potential it might also be possible I'm over rating him.

Hopefully he stays with us as he's a good player to debate about now Struijk's gone :)

Potential can only last so long! How long does it take before potential becomes null and void? Gnonto has been here what: 4 years? He has gotten worse...

Most players have potential it is whether they can display that potential consistently. If we take Summerville as an example of a player who was probably behind Gnonto initially. Summervile showed flashes but then he started scoring consistently, made himsefl undroppable. Gnonto has had his moments, but that has been all. He hasn't done enough, when he has had a run of games, to make himself undroppable.

It's a tricky one. He could stay and never really produce on a consistent basis, the odd great game here and there. He could leave, get a run of games and his career could take off.

Didn't see the game but some nice stuff in that.

Certainly more than DJ did or Wilson in the 30 minutes I did watch

If he keeps showing he's willing to put the hard work in both in training and on matchday then he'll get more minutes. If that happens this could be the season he really breaks through as PL player but he will need to bring goals and/or assists to the team and not just look the part in flashes.

Okafor, Wilson & Aaronson all do that and that's why currently they are ahead of him.

Every time he's come over the past couple of seasons he's worked hard and show moments of class.

I'm not sure what he is doing in the week that means Farke just doesn't seem to like him.

Not sure DJ ever shows why he's ahead of Willy. He started and poor Willy got the scrag ends.

If one of them need to go its DJ not Willy.

I've never felt Gnonto didn't work hard, seems to be something that just gets accepted as fact.

Okafor is far lazier but gets plenty of minutes.

No idea about Wilson but Aaronson is often all fart and no poo.

And James is similar.

Yet their deficiencies are easily overlooked whereas Willy gets pity minutes no matter what.

Even if he does well in his limited minutes doesn't seen to matter like when he put in that lovely cross for a DCL goal last season don't think he started another game for ages

Willy Gnonto its time for you to step up in our second season in the Premier League. We all know you have the talent, push for a place, work hard and give us the level we know you can achieve. If not, you'll be out the door.

You make it sound like it's Gnonto's fault, it's absolutely not. ..

He's training hard, playing out of position at times, he's playing really well in the limited time he gets, he creates chances, he's an excellent squad member

... You're quote ". If not, you'll be out the door." makes it sound like he's coasting, being a poor team player, playing s**t

My post is a call to arms, a kick up the backside to hopefully spring into action the talent we know that is present. That fact remains his pre- season game time has not lite any fires in my opinion. What is his best position? Why are the powers that be overlooking a talent that needs time to find his role for the club. The answer is pressure !!!! From the coaching staff upwards the players have to deliver and deliver quickly in the Premier League, its sink or swim... If you want time after how many years at the club? 4 years or maybe 5 you are not doing something right.... Its Gnonto that has to impress the manager., no excuses....

Do you mean nope he doesn't need to impress the manager ?

I'm confused if that's what you think as how else will he get more minutes.

Clearly Farke rates others higher than Gnonto so he will have to do more to impress as that's the only way to get more game time. You don't get it by sulking like Charlie Cresswell.

Fair play to Gnonto though as he's clearly giving it his best shot at the moment and I think he will play an important role for us this season, however not necessarily as a starter.
