Re: QPR V Leeds Utd Match Thread
Said it after the Bolton game, we miss Jack Clarke so much, its disgraceful that the club have allowed this situation but there it is.
He is the only player at present that we have fit who can inject our attack with pace and creativity, something different.
Its what Messi does for Barcelona, its what Sane does for Man City.
You need that player who has that something a bit different because some times pass and move just wont work.

Agreed. Shack would have been the first sub on for me, or even young Gotts give him a chance to see what he can do. No doubt both of them would've hit the target with Douglas' chance.

Douglas was playing well before the injury, bought back a little too soon (happens) and just coming back now. Alio is reckless, too technically poor, too temperamental, (we don't need two) and too important off the wing to waste at LB..

By the way everyone though Douglas the steal of the transfer window when he came...We spent up to 10 M on Bamford too, so who's to say another 10 M in Jan would have yielded a game changer..let alone would he/they have started over the incumbents.

The annoying thing is Saiz isn't even getting games for Getafe, just wasted on the bench. Yet we let him go without trying to replace him. Don't say James, because he's all pace and no end product or brain.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:30 pm Said it after the Bolton game, we miss Jack Clarke so much, its disgraceful that the club have allowed this situation but there it is.

Only £10m if we go up. £7m is a good price for a goalscorer in this league. Gary Madine cost £6m for example or Assombalonga £15m. Unfair to expect him to be at his very best when he's been injured for 3/4 of the season.

We lack pace all over pitch its scary when players actually take on the fullbacks fortunately keeping the ball the majority of game hides the issue. I would have played Shackleton left out Roberts. Given Brown at least 20 at the end.

Re: QPR V Leeds Utd Match Thread
Considering he was meant to be the best full back in the league last season, even at his best this season he hasnt looked close to that level imo.
Dont think Ali is technically poor, he does need to calm down, little wind up merchant but sometimes he pushes it.
Havent liked Ali on the left wing all season, he looks much more comfortable at left back but ideally imo right wing suits him much more.
Dont get why MB plays Ali on left wing at all tbh.

As others have said, Clarke is the only one on Pablo's wavelength when it comes to brains. I would say Klich too, but he's been so poor for ages. Saiz had to be replaced by a like for like, but as usual the club sat around and did fook all about it. The connection they had was a huge loss.

Got to disagree there SG. James has so much pace to burn no one can keep up with him. He would occupy at least 2 defenders every game and it's an ' out ball' from defence. Did you see his performance and goal against Brentford a few weeks ago. Absolutely stunning and imo it's something Leeds lack desperately.SG90 wrote: The annoying thing is Saiz isn't even getting games for Getafe, just wasted on the bench. Get Bogusz on the bench. Closest we have to Saiz.

But when would he have the space to do that at Leeds? Every team crowds our half, even in home games.BGwhite wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:38 pm Got to disagree there SG. I bigged up Madine here last season, was told in no uncertain terms by most he wasn't very good.. But we're singing from the same hymn book. The player has to be the right fit, keep fit and not struggle for form to be worth the money or he's a bust.
there are no guarantees. Just throwing money at a problem seldom works unless it's a profligate amount

Thats the issue, I'm convinced Brown was Saiz replacement, absolutely convinced of it.
"Look Samu give us till January when Izzy is fit then we will let you go".
No way did Saiz decide he wanted to leave on a whim, all to convenient.
Feel sorry for MB.
Bamford wasnt the striker he wanted (not that he is a bad option)
Baker, Blackman, were they players MB wanted?
Harrison? Maybe but certainly MB wanted another winger.
Didnt want Saiz sold, wasnt replaced.
Whether he wanted Baker or not he did acknowledge that it was another body lost.
Didnt wantVieira sold.

Re: QPR V Leeds Utd Match Thread
But no one called for us to throw money around. We all said we needed a GK, a Saiz replacement and a winger to replace Harrison. We got a GK, a very good one at that, but we put all our eggs into one basket in James and didn't look at other options, as we always do, and now we're paying the price. I warned it would happen and got called a moaner.faaip wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:40 pm I bigged up Madine here last season, was told in no uncertain terms by most he wasn't very good.. Several times last 2/3 games he's actually gone down on his arse and flailed a foot to attempt a tackle, deliberately ...the very definition of poor techniqueCjay wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:37 pm Considering he was meant to be the best full back in the league last season, even at his best this season he hasnt looked close to that level imo.

Once defenders know about his pace they automatically drop off to give themselves a fighting chance of catching him but this guy can give anyone a head start and he'll beat them...and he knows it too. He just kicks the ball upfield and leaves defenders standing. If teams press too high they are asking to be skinned by him. He would have been the difference I believe.SG90 wrote: But when would he have the space to do that at Leeds? Every team crowds our half, even in home games.

Baker, Bamford, Blackman and Harrison all smell of Orta to me. 3 are ex Boro ffs. I'm convinced Bielsa could attract quality to the club, i.e. Casilla, but Italian Bates would never support it as he's too greedy and tries to do it on the cheap, hence we're left with crap loans all the time.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:41 pm Thats the issue, I'm convinced Brown was Saiz replacement, absolutely convinced of it.

True, but whenever I've seen him he has next to no end product, so he'd fit in well I guess. We should've looked to Spain for Saiz's replacement, so we got someone with a similar brain to Pablo.BGwhite wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:45 pm Once defenders know about his pace they automatically drop off to give themselves a fighting chance of catching him but this guy can give anyone a head start and he'll beat them...and he knows it too.
