Jack Harrison - GONE

Probably get criticised for this but.

Jack Harrison, what does he do?

He looks fitter and stronger i will give him that and was great vs Wigan.

But he doesnt score goals, doesnt create goals, rarely goes past his man, well he does but then he turns back on himself and loses it.

His end product is dire, Ali and Dallas have as many goals and assists as him from full back.

Wasnt keen on him coming back and he sparkled briefly since but all to briefly.

Genuinely interested in what he does apart from fit the system?

Forshaw fits the system to, he doesnt have any end product.

Thats 2 attacking players with no end product, and we wonder why we dont score enough?

Agree with all of that. I was disappointed when we got him back. Another cheap option I bet! IMO he offers nothing up front and someone in his position should be getting into double figures for goals. He should not be ahead of Costa.

His holding onto the ball too long is down to Bamford being too slow to get into position, Harrison best with Roofe. I think Costa has hardly played with Paddy, would be interesting to see how well he'd get on but I've lost count of the times Pablo has got into the box and Paddy arrives too late for a quick cross

Definitely there have been a few balls played in this season that would have been perfect for Roofe. A case for me that they need to work more on getting the understanding better in playing balls in from Harrison to Bamford. I wonder if Bielsa expected Roofe to sign a new contract and stay and they were working pre-season with the crosses going into Roofe with Bamford a deeper striker.

Also worth noting that as PB is left footed it is a harder angle for him to meet Harrison's crosses as he sort of has to try to sweep the ball in as it is coming accross him whereas the rightfooted Roofe would be meeting those crosses at a better angle and able to sidefoot them home. In fact all 4 of Bamford's goals have seen the ball coming at him from the right, not once from a pass/cross from the left.

I don't want to slag him off because he always puts in 100 per cent and you can see how he works for the team. However, he's just not that good imo. As a winger he lacks the pace or skill needed to take full backs on and lacks the quality of pass/cross putting balls into the box. On the flip side he does cover the defence well and is OK on the ball etc. But for me this isn't enough. He doesn't get anywhere near enough assists or goals to justify being a guaranteed starter and with Costa on the bench I can't believe that he is actually still starting. Perhaps a decent option if we need to be defensively strong down the wings but surely costa has to take his starting berth for some games soon.

But when i watch him he is so wasteful, gets in to so many great situations but far to often totally balls it up.

And that pass accuracy shows it, thats barely 50%, the side on average was almost 80%.

Id give him motm for the assist and goal but ive read on twitter people say his all round game wasnt good? That right

I gave Jack a rating of 8 bearing in mind he was playing the SQUARE PEG role, assist with our opener for Roberts plus his goal however for a player who sees a lot of the ball his all round game is littered with mistakes :

Erratic passing
Low accurate crossing rate
Beating the same man twice
Deliberating on crossing the ball quickly
Another one who wants to take one touch too many
Just like his teammates misses some glorious chances

Yes Jack is hard-working & a real trier however he is a frustrating winger as he should be producing much more when you consider he has come out of Citeh's academy & is on 50k a week.

We have a scruffy winger on the left with Mr frothy on the right and posh boy up front, all three need to produce much more for the dosh they are costing LUFC, maybe their improved performances are still to come as the season progresses.

Not just the assist for the goal but I thought his link up play with Roberts in the first half was the best he has been.
So maybe if we saw Roberts play inside Jack on the left that could be the makings of a good understanding.

When MB wanted us to become for defensive second half Roberts then moved across to the right and that left Harrison without the help he needs.

He didn't. He's a product of the US college system.

jack has changed his style of play. it was obvious that instead of trying to pass his man on the outside and trying to get to the byline to put in a cross, he was beating the player by cutting to the inside and heading to the 18 yard box and that is how his assist and goal came from.

For whatever reason there was hardly anybody in the box when he crossed from the byline. Bielsa is setting the team up differently... Looks more of a 3331 and players are finding new roles and the opposition have not quite figured us out yet since they were so used to us setting up as 4141.

In fairness he's scored in 3 of his last 4 games, and THAT goal shows his potential.

There is no doubt Jack has to start because of his goals/assists/work rate but there is no other player challenging for that position right now!

Agree, he put in a shift but was poor going forward, but credit to the guy for busting a guy to put himself in that position after not playing that great. Yeah, if he was injured it would be Alioski or Dallas to replace him

Our team tired them out and then Harrison et al pounced and there was no defence.
All down to our leader's fitness regime, in addition to everything else he has brought to our side.

I feel Jack Harrison is Marcelo's latest convert.
