Just got in from work, having been in a Zoom Committee meeting from 3.00 to 7.30 so missed the entire game.

I'm getting from the match thread posts that we weren't on our A game today

One of those games that are a lot better to watch now you know the result, but you can fast forward the majority of it.

Thought Halme and Mowatt looked good players, if Barnsley can find a goal scorer even if they go down they should come back up.

Mowatt should have gone for that elbow challenge on Costa

I don't think Derby will play as well as Barnsley either.

Derby have Lawrence, Marriott and Waghorn available. All three have missed games recently due to injury or suspension so they'll be a threat.
Plus Shrek pinging balls about in midfield.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if we lost and went into the Charlton game still needing a point.

The lack of rest time bothers me more than Derby plus I reckon Costa will miss at least the Derby game. That's 2 main players missing which impacts our tiny squad more than most. Strength on the bench is important in these crazy times .

Despite the 3 points i really struggle to see what exactly Tyler Roberts brings to the party?

He has the occasional nice touch or moment but he has been hooked for Pablo every game since the restart and while he probably would have been regardless he hasnt deserved not to be.

Lot of our fans rate him i know but as a 10 he hasnt scored or created anything, 14 goals scored since the restart and Tyler hasnt scored or created any.

Cant remember a player so lauded for so little evidence.

Still young and time to improve but that's no excuse, plenty of players younger have shown far more in this league. Imo a loan next season would do him good, let him go out and get a full season under his belt elsewhere because Prem level he isnt at the moment.

Well I've aged ten years after watching that horror show, it was horrible

1st half

Playing three at the back invited pressure
Too many positional/formation changes during the actual game caused total confusion
No lung bursting runs down the right from Ayling because he's at CB
No flow, no rhythm
No shots on target from either side
Too much space in the middle of the park.
Barnsley had two chances, the header would have put us one down

2nd half

We got worse
No playing out from the back
Poor retention of the ball
Resorting to hoofball
Meslier booting every goal-kick to their CB's with the ball coming back to us
Our rhythm totally gone
Two missed golden opportunities which would have put the game to bed
Thank god we weren't playing Brentford

Final conclusions

We kept a clean sheet & got the three points required

We're going up

Well done Barnsley, we got lucky!

Mowatt is no Leeds fan in my eyes, that was a deliberate assault on Costa, probably broken his ribs.

Glad that one is behind us Barnsley played well and it does make you wonder why more teams don't try to come at us as we do have a tendancy to start panicking.
Only leeds fans would be nervous about needing 1 point from 2 games to secure promotion. I get immediate succour from a win then the nerves set in again about an hour after. If it does go to the last day that walk will look very appealing - hopefully hear cheers as I wander the streets.

The only worry for me is the team were out of breath at the end and we only get two days rest between the game, whereas Derby had 4.

Shrek will be out of breath after 20 mins if they try to press us.

Don't forget though that with it being Thursday night to Sunday afternoon it is only the same as if they played Wednesday night and then Saturday afternoon which is a common occurence during the season. Shouldn't really be a problem. Always harder physically if you are the team chasing the ball rather than the team playing well so for me this performance and looking tired is just a one off.

Definitely worth watching. Sometimes it is very easy to get caught up in the game when watching it live and think we played worse than we did or better than we did. Knowing the score takes some of that side of the judgement out of the equation so you can judge it better. It wasn't a great performance but equally it wasn't like we were outplayed. Just nowhere near our usual fluent best.

I can't help but wonder whether the continued bringing him off at 45 minutes is also a way to protect him as he has had continued injury problems. Works out quite well in that way that giving him and Pablo 45 minutes each protects both of them.

Sell him, no way he'll be good enough for the prem if he can't hack it in the championship
