Re: Aston Villa v Leeds Utd Match Thread - Struijk starts in defensive midfield
Having had a night and now a morning to mull over the game last night I believe that it was as well as we’ve ever played under Bielsa (bearing in mind that this is the Premier League) which means that it is as well as we’ve played for the last 2 decades. The 3 nil score line in the end flattered them, the margin could have been a lot bigger. They couldn’t cope with our intensity which we were able to sustain for the full 95 minutes. I think it was an excellent game of football for the neutral to watch, credit to Villa there, but we were by far in a way the best team and some of our play was sublime.
Unless you are the likes of Citeh or Liverpool you cannot go toe to toe with this Leeds team and expect to get the better of us (we even more than matched Citeh and Liverpool tbh). The only way to get a result against us it seems, is to put 10 men behind the ball and rely on a bit of luck and the odd breakaway, ala Wolves. If we could find a way of scoring goals regularly against those sort of teams who show no ambition, sit back and just pack their defence then we would be almost unbeatable.
What a pleasure it is to be a Leeds fan and watch this team at the moment. Thank you Marcelo Bielsa!

Maybe sooner Moth, wouldn't be surprised if we make Europe this seasonmothbanquet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 7:17 pm If we keep getting in players of Rodders's relative quality across the park we'll be in Europe in the next couple of seasons.

Best comment from Villa fan "we just could not cope with Leeds United, Bielsa's team are like a Rottweiler's on steroids"

I thought going into this season that we might fare well in the EPL because teams wouldn't park the bus against us the way they did in the Championship.Byebyegeegee wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 11:48 am

But after the last two games, where Wolves prospered by putting ten men behind the ball and Villa got blown out trying to play with us, I'm afraid only the best teams will try and go toe to toe with us going forward.

So after six games we're on a pace for 61 points.
Last year that would have been good enough for sixth.

The tactics Wolves had were bang on, they were helped because we were a bit wasteful in front of goal but otherwise... faultless.John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 12:35 pm I thought going into this season that we might fare well in the EPL because teams wouldn't park the bus against us the way they did in the Championship.

They were able to soak up plenty of pressure and then start countering.
Teams that try and match us stride for stride will come second, more often than not. We've certainly stirred up a hornets nest in the PL.

So after last night I hear Moyes, Lumphard, Hodgson, Dyche et all have been on the blower to Nathan Jones

Both Frank Leboeuf and Steve Nicol have said that Leeds will blow a gasket before the end of the season... Here is my video response in song.

This team is only going to get better and better.
currently third and some members are thinking we might sneak into europe in a year or 2......but what is better than third?
blow europe in 2 years, its not beyond the bounds of possibilities that we could be doing a leicester right here and right now!
dare to believe

Bit like watching a marathon at the moment, you know there will be some guys that are pace setters and will fade as the race goes on. I think Villa maybe one of these ...I'm not even thinking about where we finish just how we're doing now. One game at a time

Pal of mine just sent me an amusing caption of the match last night, with Jack Grealish having a discussion with the ref. Unsure how to post it on here, so here goes;
Jack Grealish: "Ref, can we have a new ball"
Ref: What's wrong with the one you have"
Jack Grealish: "Leeds are playing with that one"

On Sky Sports News last night after the game the presenter asked Agbonlahor if Leeds could finish top 6 and he replied by saying "No, they'll finish 13th or 14th"
#Bitter and twisted

The man cannot win with some pople...lol that was a classic striker's goal "the tap in"... if it had been someone else you probably would have said .." where was our striker out of positiion as usual, he should be the one doing that" ...CHAPELALLMAN SAID ...
even Paddy couldn't miss from 3 yards - Rodrigo made the goal.
