I know what you mean 64. I sometimes envy the neutrals who are able to watch with equanimity and appreciate our wildly expansive, thrilling and sometimes glorious football without getting palpitations every time the ball gets anywhere near our penalty area.

A win here would be great for us and terrible for Lumpturd, what could be nicer than that? Come on Leeds!

So no Firpo at Goodison.

Need forshaw back in for me. Koch is not a DM and I don’t really see where he fits in to this team at the moment.

For all the talk of lampard and the fans having turned a corner they are still way down the league , we get the first goal and they will start to get frustrated. We have poor history against teams in a poor run though so I’d be wary of whether or not we turn up for this.

How DCL responds will be interesting. He may take it on the chin and fight to get his place back or he may sulk and cop the hump.
I'm pretty sure they will put in a better shift than they did against Newcastle but as long as we defend better we can definitely get something from this game.
I expect it will be the same line up as the previous two games.
No doubt he will come back in for corners specifically.

Koch is a bit of a conundrum for me too.
What he can do is drop into the middle of the CBs to make a three when it is needed.

Everton are also dangerous in the air so having extra height in there would be helpful.

Lampard too also knows what it takes to get at Leeds and I would be surprised if he sets up to swarm us knowing that we always manage to loose our grip on games

Koch is the best right sided centre back we have with very good ball skills. Not so much of an enigma for me, just a good footballer learning a new position

Koch should play dm.

Not sure why people keep talking about him learning a new position though?

He played defensive midfield in Germany a lot.

Not for Bielsa he didn't

Everton have injuries to apparently.

Yerry Mina

Demari Gray

Fabians Delph

Vitalii Mykolenko

Abdoulaye Doucoure

Tom Davies

Ben Godfrey

All out.

They actually have more first teamers out then us but obviously have far more depth.

Lumiukko wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 8:27 pm Think it will be the same team as against Villa but the Forshaw/Koch conundrum intrigues, especially if Firpo is back in.

If Firpo is not fit, then with Dallas at LB, there's a case for a Forshaw and Koch double pivot to shore up that midfield which is still an achilles heel.

If Firpo is fit and starts, then what? Dallas has to be in midfield meaning one of Koch and Forshaw has to sit out (all assuming Llorente and Struijk are OK to continue their partnership).

The double pivot definitely has merits but does it allow for enough creativity in the #8 position?
What about a back 3 with Llorente, Koch and Struijk , this ten allows us to have a extra player in midfield

I'm quite looking forward to this match. Two teams with a lot to play for.
A draw would be a good result, to preserve the 4 point gap over Everton.

Definitely three players there I'm glad to see out (Mina, Doucoure, and Gray (the latter because he's the kind of player we struggle against)).

Would have liked to see that big cry baby Richarlison also missing, as well as Allen. And of course DCL who dominates us aerially. Edit: youcan probably add Van der Beek to that list but he may not yet be up to speed.

I'm looking forward to us playing Everton on Saturday, I really think we'll spank them.

Can't wait to here the Stop Crying Frank Lampard song again and seeing his lip quiver as we're massacring them :)

I agree with your three main points here WR.

I’d prefer to see Forshaw in for this game. He has more physicality about him for an away game in a lively atmosphere, like Goodson will be tomorrow.

Likewise, I think it’s crucial who scores first. If we score the fear and worry in the crowd will put huge pressure on the Everton players. If they score first their tails will be up, and similar to the Villa game, we can wobble badly under that kind of opposition momentum. I don’t think they are capable of sitting back and trying to hold onto a lead. They just don’t have the defence or keeper for that to work, even against us!

Finally, having performed so well against West Ham, we followed up by being muck against Newcastle. So we need to build some consistency and put in another good performance tomorrow. If we do then we’ll win.

Even that w**ker can’t claim to have orchestrated our Casilla led implosion that night - although now that I think about it, he actually did claim it - tool! All for nowt anyway as he managed a harmless failure in the final against Villa.

Cooper lead wasn't it? Coops error for the first goal IIRC

Calamity Cooper poked the ball away from Kiko as he (keeper) raced out to sweep the ball to safety.

Cooper needs a cool head to play alongside with ie, Kyle Bartley and then Ben White. Without this calming partnership at the back Coops is prone to dropping some right clangers in defence. With Ben White martialing things at the back Coops played his part in winning LUFC the Championship title the year after the Derby calamity.

No change there , a good percentage of our goals are self inflicted.

True, I stand corrected.

The fact remains that the lack of faith that existed in the defence around Casilla’s ability contributed to Cooper’s indecision and error. The difference that Meslier has made to our team, and the confidence that the team have in him, is often now taken for granted.

Very pleased Demari Gray is out. His pace could have been a problem.
