Re: Jesse Marsch- RUMOUR

Post by Cjay »

The style to me seem very open and a lot of huff and puff and energy and running.

It's not very technical which will probably suit our players but I don't see why that will change our results?

It is also a.totally different pressing system and I don't see how you expect a set of tired players to adapt mid season.

Only advantage I can see is he doesn't go man for man and he seems to use two holding midfielders

Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 12:39 pm American coach Jesse Marsch, an advocate of Bielsa's style and admired by Leeds director of football Victor Orta, seems to be the front runner although even this is a gamble so late in the season.

Marsch won admirers at Red Bull Salzburg, where he won two Austrian titles and two domestic cups, but he failed in his last job at RB Leipzig, where he was sacked after less than six months.

He is not a man well versed in the tensions and twists of a Premier League relegation struggle so Leeds will hope, should they appoint him, that he is up to speed immediately.

Best of luck ya feckin big Jesse, i hope you can bounce us back up if tha fails.
'Admired by Leeds director of football Victor Orta'.....well that's alright then!

He is Orta's mate

Phil Hay said so in his article.

He is also highly influenced by Ralf Rangnick (basically he is to Marsch what Bielsa is to Pep) and look how hard he is finding it to implement his style on a far better set of players.

Thus has disaster written all over it.

If he drops the man 4 man and concentrates on keeping the defensive shape with 2 holding mf's it will be an improvement. We don't need to be winning every game . 12 x 0-0 draws will keep us up and I'd take that right now.

Would we take Benitez? :duno:
Marsch OUT

Football has undergone a process of bielsification; pressing and possessing, passing rather than dribbling, intercepting high up the field rather than making last-ditch tackles, are in vogue.

Marcelo Bielsa. The light that will never go out.

If the US qualify for the WC Aaronson would be a good acquisition too

Well if it is to be Marsch then He has my support. What’s done is done. Be interesting to see what happens. I won’t blame the owners for making this specific decision if we go down as we were heading that direction anyway - I will blame them for a lot of other stuff though. Moving to zonal marking will make a big difference , on the ball we are still decent more often than not.

And equally if we go down some will say Bielsa would have taken us down anyway.

Same way really as how the Christainsen/Heckingbottom debate went with Heck supporters blaming all the shortcomings on TC. Sort of shot all the excuses out of the water when Bielsa took over and showed what could be done with the same group of players.

Not convinced about JM. He seems to have done allright at clubs who were basically the biggest in their leagues then struggled at Salsburg. Seems like a bit of a TC gamble really to appoint someone who has done well in small leagues.

Hopefully though we will get the new manager bounce regardless of whether he is any good or not - as detailed in my post in this thread https://www.motforum.com/phpbb/viewtopi ... d2fb7f63f0

If we go down, it will be because we did f**k all in the summer and made it even worse in January. We've spent all season trying to wing it and hope others are worse, and it's caught up with us. The board deserve relegation, but the fans don't.

I just hope if we do go down, we stick with Marsch, as he would be good to bring through young players with the pressing style.

Very concerned about this appointment but got some bottle taking this job knowing another high profile failure after Leipzig likely ruins his chances of a big stage job possibly indefinitely.

I'll give him my full backing, just like I have all the previous managers, some work for a while longer than others, thats the business they/we are in, get real with your candle lit vigils.
You never know, the new manager just might keep us up, looked like we were on the way down with the previous fella refusing to alter his style, this fella needs everyones full support until things prove otherwise.
We may also lake some half decent football along the way.

With Marsch in charge, I doubt we'll see

Two wingers in the starting line-up.
Ayling playing as a CB.
Dallas playing in three or four different positions during a game.
James playing as a striker.
Man to man marking.

Oh, the return of clean sheets :-D now that would make me happy, as opposed to expecting the opposition to score every time they attack our box.

And i don't mean Jesse, i mean the York knobheads, jeez i'm gonna fcking hate Leeds now until these fckers are gone.

And we've lost the most gracious thing we ever could've had, and i'm absolutely certain given time he'd have got us competing against the big 6, of that i have absoluetly NO DOUBT.

In a way we're lucky to get Marsch in the position we're in. Most clubs down the bottom appoint dinosaurs like Pulis and Allardyce, we're getting someone who was managing in the UCL a couple of months ago.

We definitely need a manager that brings experience and I am not totally convinced with Jesse Marsch s record. Can the American soccer leagues be compared to our English Leagues? I would favour Ernesto Valverde because of his record as a coach, the higher levels he has managed.

Christiansen was managing in the Champions League too. There are many managers managing teams in minor leagues that get to the Champions League. There isn't a lot to get excited about by Marsch but hopefully he will do wonders for us.
