Marsch 20 yellow & 1 red. 2.22 yellow per game (9 games and counting)
Bielsa 76 yellow & 1 red. 2.92 yellow per game (26 games)
If anything Marsch has improved discipline based on the figures. The reckless Ayling challenge could never be blamed on a manager. There’s zero rational argument to say he could or would influence a player to do that.
You could argue had Bielsa stayed in charge our yellow card count could of easily topped 100.
With Marsch sub 90 for a whole season.
Tenuous I know but so is anything where you have no actual proof. If it goes to the high court my facts are indisputable m‘lud.
( Eg KP against QPR a few seasons back when he was red carded for a very poor lunge)
James and Firpo have been the main culprits numbers wise, James in his high pressing and Firpo well because he is out of his depth.
That said Bielsa did instill a respect for refs decisions in the side which has been replaced with the opposite in the players. Now we see more arguing and a general lack of discipline, some of that is down to Jesse and his approach.
Ayling was lucky in the Norwich game, again he was playing poorly and again he lunged at a player. Shocker it was.
I worry that our players are losing their heads, maybe they feel overwhelmed with tactics, the situation they find themselves in or something else.
