Very expensive signing for a penalty taker!!! He does nothing else worthy of his price tag / salary! Waste on money. The same season we paid £27m for Rodrigo, we paid £15m for Costa. The year after, £15m for Firpo. That's £57m wasted: we could get a worldie striker and LB for less than that...
If i recall right, Berts exact words to the clown were..
If you want me to come to Elland Rd, i don't leave my settee before you sign Costa on a 4 year package.
Secondly, i want you to spend whatever it takes to get that 28yo Rodrigo here no matter what or i don't come.
And thirdly after all your failures at left back, i'm gonna tell you who to go and get now, and that man is Firpo.
Now go do those 3 things.

What did he say about Roberts? I use Roberts always even if it doesn’t work or I get back on my settee.
Wonder if it’s from Ikea. The settee not Roberts
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.
It was rubbish but can you read that much into pre season. One things for sure Palace will finish above us and PV has more idea about what he wants to do than Jesse. I just want to see the Wolves game now, we’ll know after that how deep we’re in it. I live in hope

I haven't seen this match yet, and I'm wondering if i should bother.
Reading through the comments on here it sounds like one to miss.
Ditto.
Worrying.
We're 'all in' on big Jesse.
Impressions up to now ? I hope there's 3 worse than us.
Was thinking of watching the full 90 tomorrow, won't bother now. Roll on the Eye Thai's.
Where's the howd geezer ?

Does anybody wish we had someone like PV as our manager now ?
Just wondering if we had the choice of any manager in the Premier league now, who would people choose?
Me....No. 1 would be Klopp....No.2 would be Pep.....
Yours?

We desperately need adequate cover for Bamford. It will be a minor miracle if he regains his previous good form, and another minor miracle if he avoids a relapse and can start enough games next season.
What about a cheeky bid for Danny Ings? He is not first pick at Villa.
Bamford decent enough as cover, but we need better to lead the line. Other areas were a concern, Struijk as usual looks off the pace and Llorente will be getting owned again this season. New signing already injured, I hope he's not another sicknote. If were starting the season with Forshaw jn midfield then we're fucked.

Bielsa is on record as saying he tried to sign Rodrigo when he was at Lazio.
“In the case of Rodrigo Moreno, when I was at Lazio and maybe at other clubs I have worked, we tried to sign him.
And this is what Phil Hay said
Bowen was considered carefully by the recruitment team at Leeds but after much thought and much prompting from coach Marcelo Bielsa, their cash was ploughed into the signing of Helder Costa.
Bielsa might appreciate Bowen’s style, and the 22-year-old’s quiet outing in a 2-0 loss at Elland Road last week does not detract from him amassing 17 goals and three assists so far this season, but Costa was the winger Bielsa banged the drum for and the player who had him bending owner Andrea Radrizzani’s ear day after day on WhatsApp.
Bielsa wanted Costa over Bowen and pushed the club to do the deal.

I am not instinctively negative and often consider change to be positive, but the highlighted part of your post sums up my current opinion, at least based upon our performances in the pre-season games.
Just got through watching. Tbh Bamford looked decent today. He's still below his sharpness. But a few games back and I think he's capable of 20 goals again. And for all the Rodrigo bashing, there was some nice link up play between the two.
Seems to be a lingering lack of confidence in this side along with a feeling of inevitability that we will concede - whether it’s the high press or lack of cencentration I don’t know but we are hit on the break far too often. It’s early days but I’m not getting good vibes and think we will still have the same issues we had last season - owners and coach seem blind to what we need and I can’t see it been sorted before the season starts but here’s hoping.
Watching us so far has reminded me of our promotion season when sides employed the low block to stifle us. We ran into traffic so often and if it wasnt for Pablo his sliderule passing and his close control it would have been a disaster. Now it seems as if we are congesting ourselves instead.....
At times you could throw a blanket over our front four.
So my hope is that time and familiarity will allow our midfield to click start creating.
At the moment I feel our strikers are being left to win 50/50s at best or to speculate with shooting from afar.
I dont like it.
Stifling.
While my mind screams to find space.
Wait until you see how narrow Jesse makes the pitch at EL too....
' "Football is about the people and the players,” he said. “Then there are those who will mingle in the middle: the coaches, executives and journalists. That last group represents the worst part about football" Marcelo Bielsa
I'm more concerned about the usual culprits putting in the same average performances than any of our summer signings, whom require time to settle in at their new club.

Not great vs Palace reserves.
Better 1st half, 2nd half looked very disjointed. At times the defence was far to open especially on the break, bad organisation.
Creativity is a real problem to, we are playing wingers out of position and it doesnt work.
Midfield as well looks light, take out Roca and it doesnt look great.
Lots of players look very rusty, Bamford, Rodrigo, James, Klich, Aaronson, Struijk, Forshaw.
Hjelde did ok, Kristensen at times, Summerville at times, Gelhardt at times, Llorente, Koch, Roca, Adams.
But this team is still atleast 4 players short imo.
Striker, Creative midfielder, another central midfielder and a left back.
Concerned because i dont like the amount of square pegs, the wingers in a formation that doesnt use them, Harrison at left back, Greenwood now apparently is a 6 ( he definitely isnt)
We have a squad overloaded with wingers and a manager who doesnt use them but uses creative 10s and we havent got any.
That just about sums it all up, we will probably over look a gain a premier league striker for one overseas, because he has 10 assists and has scored 15 goals against the local spar team, and another LB from outer mongolia, where is this creative midfielder we are crying out for another Saiz or Hernandez is vital to this team

Yeah that. In other words, who cares about every average opinion here. Marsch, Radz, Orta are all much more knowledgeable than any of us here.
I believe fans who invest so much in the team..whether via cash or just emotion..are entitled to express their opinions Andrew....i was just pointing out how different those opinions can be. If the those 3 Wise Men did listen to fans....we wouldnt buy anyone
My only real concern after watching these pre-season games..is the way the many changes seem to disrupt the team in a negative way. Now we know multiple subs is what happens in friendlies..and this wouldnt be the norm in league games in previous seasons..but this season will see 5 subs being allowed..which worries me as to the strength of our bench which no doubt will have many players who imo were pretty average last season.
Hopefully JM wont feel the need for mass changes unless injuries occur..we want our best side to remain on pitch as long as possible.
