Re: Southampton v Leeds Match Thread - Marsch names an unchanged Starting XI

Post by Boo Radley »

We haven’t got a middle third that can control a game. It’s either heater skelter forward play are lay down and have the opposition walk through. Defence under pressure as a result. Adams lost ball or missed tackles in the lead up to both goals and Roca was MIA.

We needed Klich and Forshaw to slow up that game and see it out. Very poor by Marsch and really worrying.

If we don’t buy a LB and a CF then it is another very tough season ahead for us.

I was going to correct you on the "middle third." But you said it. Klich! He controlled the end of the game last week. We needed him on sooner today. He almost contributed to us snatching a win at the end. Just baffled why he wasn't brought on at the drinks break.

Annoying , but its an away point against one of our relegation rivals, so not a total disaster.

To expect a full starting (almost) XI to play 90 mins in 35 degree heat is breathtakingly naive.

I'd have taken the point at kick off. But when we're 2-0 up after 70 minutes .... Totally mismanaged that one

Kristensen cost us two goals - one at each end.

Until today I had Marsch down as a good decision maker but the sun must have boiled his brain today.

4 from 6 points is a better start then I expected but the striker situation is very worrying.

Get the money spent Radz!

Ordinarily an away point isn't a bad thing

But Southampton have been dire for ages.

We were 2 up and well on top.

It's definitely 2 points dropped

Yes and Yes

That missed challenge for the Wolves goal was both weak and naive. I'm not bashing him. Still think he's a good player. But has some things to work on.

Not bashing him no but both goals were down his side.

Lost his man for the 2nd also.

Needs to be much better

Time to freshen this up?
Yes it was as we did last week.

It was 10 degrees hotter today.

Always a game we should be winning considering Sotn's form in 2022. OK: we all woul have taken 4 points out of 6 at the start of the season: 2 points a game average is champions form right? But drawing this after being 2 up with 18 to go. Worst of it is the manager choosing not to use the bench when he spoke about it all week! Also, how is it that Marsch does not deem Greenwood/Summerville worthy of 20 minutes each? Greenwood was scoring for fun 2 years ago. He's certainly a bettr 9 than James (we never should have bought james btw)...

I did say at the start of the season, if Ayling was fit he'd probably get the start and it would be his position to lose. With Ayling injured, the opposite is true. But Rasmus has a little time on his side to establish himself before Bill starts breathing down his neck

Still frustrated with this one. Jesse midweek talked about the heat and using all his subs. We did just that last week. And he didn't do it today. Klich came on too late and almost contributed to a 3-2 win. Baffled

Great job for the first hour but the players tired in the excessive heat. We could all see what was going to happen, I think the Manager should have put fresh legs on after Southampton first goal. We should be sat with six points tonight, but now it is only four,
and these are the teams we need to be beating. These mistakes all add up at the end of the season. Thought Rodrigo and Harrison played well.

Ward-Peters ran rings round Pascal

We need a LB & a No.9

Is it only the fans who can see what is required?

Someone send a note to the board

Wasn't going to say this but.

I think Meslier should have done better on both goals.

Sold himself to easily for the first and didn't make himself big enough for the second.

A truly top class goalkeeper (rather than potentially) saves those imo.

We can't afford another season of roadrunner up top. If there's no money, use the loan market. And if there's no money, then where has the TV money gone?
