Without getting into an argument then, hand on heart I believe Radz and his ownership model has a ceiling at this level of absolute lower mid table.

Maybe as high as 11-12th occasionally but not top half.

Effectively a Southampton or a Palace which he is on record as saying he is happy with.

He is also on record as saying 49ers ownership would be similar.

Would you be happy with that ?

Problem with Harrison since he arrived though is it isn't just hot and cold, it can be hot or freezing.

He generally goes through 2 or 3 good games then 5-10 absolute crap with very little In between.

Don't like Struijk at left winger back or left back, not his fault and does his best but our attitude to that area of the pitch is very odd.

U21 team doesn't even have a left back.
Still Hjelde won't get a chance

Jack is an interesting case, he recognises his weakness too as he has already said he spends time with a psychologist. When he acts instinctively he is amazing but once he gets that ear worm and has time to ponder it goes wrong. I think Jesses vertical high octane system suits him but he just had one of those nights.

Better him in the side than out though.

-£11m net spend a year after finishing 17th. The owners deserve applause.

Hope I don't see anyone calling for Marsch to get sacked. The owners are playing for 17th, so it's not his fault.

I'm sure the 49ers will have more ambition than finishing 17th.

Good question.

I know that Radz hasn't the resources to get us any higher than mid table in the long term He is one of the poorest owners in the Prem. Look at the hundreds of millions regularly squandered every season in this league. For nothing. At nest a couple of positions in the league. The Wolves owners went on record asking what was the point of them spending another £300m for a couple of league places. That is just realism.

So I would be happy in the sense that seeing us consolidate as a regular Prem club.

He can not know what the 49ers ownership will bring. Nor can you or I we can only guess and I know you have concerns about their motives.
I hope it brings something more than what we have now. A vision and the wherewithall to see us fighting for top 8 each season.

But I cant change where we are now so I decide to enjoy what is essentially a passtime. I am happy now. I enjoyed the game tonight free from all the angst we experienced season on season in the Championship with every loss feeling like it was the end of the world.

But I would like a rich owner to come along and help us get back to the glory days

Interesting take on the game from the BBC.
“Impressive Jack Harrison”.
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

But 90% of wide players blow hot and cold. A fact most tend to not accept.

Struijk as wingback didn't help him either
Harrison wasn’t perfect tonight but Everton saw him correctly as the main threat and doubled up on him all evening. Most of what we got in the box came from him. The fact there was no one there on many occasions when he looked to cross is of more consequence. The lack of energy was scary tonight, but not from Jack.

I thought Struijk had a fine game. He’s being asked to play a role he was never intended to play. His tackling and distribution were better than many others tonight.

No ones asking for £300m though. If he can't put in £10m to help us loan a striker for the season, then he should sell up asap.

I'd change "this club" to "his asset". He has made sure the value of his asset has rocketed. And that's good business.

As for the game, it was a good chance to put distance between us and the bottom clubs. Didn't take it, could have gone either way. Just as I didn't rush to judgement that everything was great after Chelsea, I'm not going to get too upset after the 2 performances since. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I'm not knocking Struijk, I just don't want him used there.

Another poor display against one of our bottom 6 rivals. What is the two man corner discussion about followed by delivery of a crap corner...been going on for 2 or 3 games....embarrassing. Hopefully Ayling will be back soon as we currently look very weak down that side......apart from the Chelsea miracle not over impressed so far.....imo no striker....no staying up.

BGwhite wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:05 pm Well Sinisterra rescued us . We had the chances to win it but we continue to make schoolboy errors at the back. Meslier and Lorent need lessons on kicking a ball because they are absolutely garbage . Llorent is an accident waiting to happen and meslier isn't far behind.
We played much better 2nd half but lack that cutting edge. Couldn't understand why Sinisterra was subbed unless he's not up to full fitness but Paddy added a threat when he came on. Once again James did fookall of any note except run himself into a brick wall of defenders but I suppose now Rodders is out for a bit he'll be hanging around unfortunately otherwise f**k him off and get what we can for him.
Overall a point is better than none but we really should be beating a depleted Everton so all I can see is a bottom half mega struggle again this season.

Good summary for me BG.

Llorente was horrific. He’s going to be cleaned out by better teams and better players. It’s heart in mouth stuff when he gets the ball, especially going backwards.

Everton are really poor and it is disappointing that we didn’t show up until the second half. Having said that we could easily have lost and that would not have been good. This being a “must not lose game” just about makes this result tolerable.

Did you miss that killer cross he put in for Rodrigo? The one Rodrigo should have buried. He had several bad moments in the game, but to say he's freezing cold would say he did nothing right. That cross for Rodrigo was Beckham-esque

Regarding Joffy, I believe the game plan focused on giving Bamford the last 15 to score the winner.

When Rodrigo was injured Joffy was draughted in to play the interim, knowing that he would be subbed with 15 left. Bonus for him as otherwise he’d have had no opportunity at all.

As it turned out, we’d have been better keeping him on.

8 points from 5 games, we take it. Move on.
