Just finished watching. Now depressed.
Easily the better team in thefirst half but Palace go and score with their one and only chance.
If Cooper had just played the ball down the line, Palace don't get the free kick.
Second half more even in terms of possession but we failed to create anything.
Its no good just just giving Joffy a few minutes at the end to try and get an equaliser, get him on earlier to try and get a winner.
Despite them having the better of the second half I couldn't see us losing. Eze had done f**k all prior to scoring.
Bamford worked hard but his touch was woeful. Still well short of match sharpness.

3 points from those games is a poor return

Winning in two of those only only to get 1 point is even worse

And we haven't even played City, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal or Manure yet.

Cheered your Sunday up did it, Chilli 😀
The most depressing game so far for me. Great first half, brilliant by Aaronson. And it all just petered out into nothingness

Piss poor I’m afraid and no where near good enough in the last 2 games. Sinisterra is the key, we have him in the team and we always have a chance. Rodrigo has had his purple patch this season needs to be benched for the foreseeable really can’t see what he brings to the team.

Always wondered why we didn’t go in for a quality CB pre season we all know LC isn’t a premier CB as much as he’s a lovely bloke.

Struik is our best CD and should play there. Cooper is really poor. Not bying a left back is going to cost us.

First 30 minutes I was buzzing Jaydog, we looked good. But the second half was really scrappy and the fact their keeper didn't have a save to make says it all. There was some good performances, Adams and Aaronson ran their socks off and I thought Kristensen and Koch did well.
I still don't think we will go down but I am concerned about our points total considering who we have played so far.

Minimalist approach.

This board only wanted to do the bare minimum.

Hence only 2 cms rather than the 3 we needed (because Forshaw is never fit).

No left back.

No striker.

A quality cb would have been nice but was never gonna happen.

SG90 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 3:20 pm The problem is there was nothing on the bench to change it up. This is why I was saying we needed another midfielder to provide the engine from the bench, because all we have is Klich and Forshaw, who are both too slow. But we only bought two rather than three.

We replaced the starting xi but did nothing for the bench.
I agree that our bench isn't heavy weight enough.

Klich and Forshaw are fine imo in most of the situations but today the change was way too late. Jesses inertia was a gamble that didnt pay off

It was obvious that second half that we were going nowhere and the manager did nothing to shore us up or go for the win.

I understand not buying another holding midfielder this season as too many changes can mess it up but we are expecting Roac and Adams to play every game and 90 mins every week now which isn't good.

Quite a few today Faaip, particularly in the 2nd half, we were devoid of any attacking ideas, toothless up front to be honest.

Bringing Summerville on for me was a very poor move.....he could have swopped places with the linesman and nobody would have noticed cos he did nowt !!

Not even thrown on as a last resort
We have 5 subs available but can only make them during 3 stoppages. As a last resort, we would have had to have thrown him on at the same time as Gelhardt and Ayling.

Saying that, I think we got the substitutions all wrong today. Klich for Aaronson? No. I really dont like it when we switch from 4-2-3-1 to 4-2-2-2. We went behind a minute after that change. I would have found a way to get Gnonto on somehow

But no wins vs Southampton, Palace, Brentford, Villa, Brighton and Everton.

3 points from those 6.

I think that deserves a moan no?
Not really, you do sometimes moan if things don’t go the way you want, tbf we all do now and again.
You need to accept that games don’t always go the way we would want.

Southampton - should have got three points after being two up and looking comfortable.

Palace - I thought we deserved a draw over the whole game.

Brentford - matched them most of the game but individual errors cost us a point.

Villa - good point after going down to ten early second half. Villa played for a point from the KO

Everton - Everton played for a point from the KO but we deserved at least a draw, which we got.

Brighton - didn’t deserve anything.

I didn’t want a change of manager, quite a few on here did.
Give JM until New Year, then make a balanced judgement - the JM thread has him at 6/10 atm which is a balanced score so far.

I am not a JM hater but it puzzles me why we bring a manager in who has done absolutely nothing in his career and expect him to get a team performing in the PL.

For all of you complaining about JM being out of his depth and not making tactical adjustments or the right substitutions. I would love to hear your reasoned analysis. It should be fascinating....

Patrick Vieira switched from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 in the second half. How would you have countered that with the players we have available to us?

In my opinion Jesse's first mistake was starting Cooper. He is a Championship level player. Had a hand in both goals. Prior to the match in this very thread I called for a back line of Kristensen-Kock-Struijk-Firpo. Did anyone notice that Firpo didn't even make the bench today? So Left Back MUST be addressed in January. Jesse asked for one. He didn't get one...

The first sub was Summerville for Bamford in the 61st min. That moved Rodrigo up top and Aaronson to the middle. A reasonable substitution. But it didn't work. Summerville had virtually no impact on the match. Was there a better option? Oh that's right...Dan James was in Fulham's starting 11 today.

The next move was Klich on for Aaronson in the 76th min. That didn't work either. Klichy immediately showed us again why he is a Championship level player. He couldn't get anywhere near to closing down Eze on the 2nd Palace goal. And yes, our other Championship level player Cooper got beat on that one too.

Bringing on Ayling for Kristensen in the 85th min made sense as Rasmus was on the yellow. Better to protect him in that moment.

Joffy coming on for Roca in the 85th min? At least he got a shot on goal....

Willie Gnonto was not going to be your savior. Those of you calling for him are delusional. Again, Jesse wanted a Striker. He got a player who's only contribution to the U21's so far is jumping into the arms of Perkins, Joseph, and Gelhardt after they have scored goals.

I always say that results speak for themselves. And right now results are speaking loudly. The rope just got a bit shorter today.
