Yes, our two golden oldies Cooper & Ayling did well, whereas Koch & Struijk were weak at the back.

I'm not happy with back four, whichever combination is selected. Not one of them has pace or look comfortable on the ball, they stand off attackers allowing them to get their shots in.

We haven't had good defenders since Jansson and Bartley, but then Monk was a defensive manager. I keep saying, but we don't have the resources to sign top defenders and play expansive football. We can only focus on one of the other. Since we can't take our chances, I'd prefer us to be defensive

Obviously we deserved at least a point tonight but I am not even sure that Struijk should be in the squad....so poor its embarrassing and as for Aarranson, we are deluding ourselves...he is just not prem class, too lightweight and ineffective....we are just not in the position to play with 9 men !!

Gutted, lots of ifs and buts. However, we cannot dominate games and come away with nothing. The way we concede is just madness. Someone has to take one for the team near the half way line when they break our lines at speed or at least try and disrupt the play. Happens generally when Adams is out of position, as he is a beast at doing what no one else can.

It's notable that when they scored their 2nd was the break away from Adams laying sown in their penalty box.

I must be reading them wrong, they are simply average imo!

How many PL clubs would be interested is signing any of them, I doubt even the clubs below us would even consider offering them a contract.

The concerns I expressed about this before he signed have come to be. I think Brenden is a good player. But after a bright start he is completely out of sorts. He needs a mental reset. And he needs to get tougher.

Agree Davy, we haven't got a commanding/consistent defender in our ranks, they would struggle in the championship.

I hope Marsch is in the dressing room apologising to the lads. He should be saying, "Sorry lads you played really well but once again my sh*t tactics saw us being ripped open. I once again f*cked up by moving Struyjk from left back into centreback last week and then back to left back this week, I totally fucked up his positional sense. I once again picked Aaronsen and then confounded the error by not making him the first player I took off. I have also f*cked about with Wobber playing him now in 3 different positions in less than 90 minutes of action."

Watched some of the game back.

2 additional observations for me.

1/ Aaronson needs to toughen up quick. He is like Steve Rogers before the metamorphosis. He is likes to get stuck in but does not have the physicality to back up his spirit. The lad has oodles of talent but just needs to be stronger.

2/ When Mings makes the mistake and falls over trying to be clever and we have the ball and are effectively through we make a pigs ear of it. Harrison has far too many touches probably because he is on the right. If it was on the left he pings that killer ball much earlier. This is the kind of situation we always get punished by but seem incapable of doing likewise when we have the chance.

I hope Rutter can provide that extra bit of quality.
