Funny, the first three were pivotal in our promotion and cost less than £10M. Earned us PL status etc etc..
The second three... Firpo has won over his critics, still young doing well, as has Roca, and Rutter is an unknown ( although tbf J think his fee was madness but 49ers money who cares right they have loads) and as such cant be affirmed as a POOR signing.
Feck sake at least find some believable examples
Think you've missed my point. The first 3 may have been involved in our promotion but the step up is a step too far . They may have the occasional 2-3 games where they perform to a better standard but in this league if you're not consistent you will very quickly be found out and that's where quality players differ. We are where we are for this reason which boils down to recruitment. We are also rewarding little cameos with huge contracts ie Bamford & Harrison who are prime examples of the board getting carried away when they see players play well for a game or 2 and think they've got a Maradona on their books. The board are deluded and the players aren't up to it but that's not their fault.
Apart from the GD some loonies rave about, the 1-5 means as much to me as 1-2 or 1-7, it's points we're gonna need and Javi fcked this one up big style, and i hope to fck he learns fast...
WE CANNOT FCKING DEFEND.....AND WE CANNOT PLAY IT OUT FROM THE BACK WITHOUT BERTBALL OR BERT, YOU HAVE LEARNED (I HOPE) THAT THE HARD FCKING WAY YOU MUPPET, NOW DON'T DO IT AGAIN, DON'T TRY IT AGAIN, AND DON'T EVEN LET IT ENTER THA TINY MIND AGAIN......EVER !!!......or we're fcked.
And relax..........first of all - find a replacement for the prick Firpo, or do NOT rely on any defensive work from this LB charlatan, he is a class 1 grade A clown defender, learn fast Javi.
Now then, yesterday we went at them and were just fine, we could've had 4 goals and they could've had 2, we were the better side by far.
Then we score, and this is where it ALL unravels.
They say in the Prem these days, the first goal is vital to the first team to score, and that is definitely true for MOST teams.
But not this shower of shyte, unless they carry on the same, i was screaming at my tele....'DON'T FCKING START KNOCKING IT ABOUT AT THE BACK FFS !!.....DON'T FCKING INVITE THEM ONTO TO US FFS!......DON'T CHANGE A SINGLE THING FFS !
Our defenders at so shyte at defending it's criminal to actually ask them to do it, for the sake of our survival, WE MUST believe we are better than the other bottom 8 sides and attack them, because we are probably better than them on the attack, anything else at all and we weaken ourselves, full stop. (period Yanks)
Woy absolutely categorically 100% got the better of Javi yesterday from the moment we scored, and that is it end of, from then on we were going to get battered, and not only that, if he doesn't realise how he fcked up and where it went wrong, WE WILL GET BATTERED EVERY SINGLE WEEK UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON.
Bert knew it, Jesse got fcked by it, and you Javi will take us down with it unless you turn the lights on.
Bamford - best when we attack.
Jack - Gnonto - Sinisterra - Aaronson - Jimmy = Best when we attack.
Ayling - Roca - Weston - Firpo (get shut) = Best when we attack.
When and if from now on we go 1-0 up, WE MUST carry on the same, it is the ONLY game we have, we can't knock it about at the back and try bringing it out, we are way too prone to fck ups, Bert mastered it with KP LC SD etc coz he taught the rest how to make themselves available, but he's gone, please please please don't rely on these numpties, they will fck you up the ass as you found out yesterday fer gawds sake.
You should've noticed what Woy did ya fool, he targeted the the hapless in a world of his own Junior dickhead, and at times he went 3-3-4 and 3-4-3 and 4-3-3.....but the main thing is....HE WENT ON THE ATTACK AND GOT THE BETTER OF YOU, WHEN YOU SHOULD'VE CARRIED ON WITH SLIGHT ADJUSTMENTS AND BASICALLY DONE THE SAME !.....it might've been a draw 6-6...who knows ???
But it definitely would've been a case of, who dares wins... or more so ....' we'll score more than you!!! '
So basically learn this - Do not try to protect a lead - Do not try to play it out from the back - Do not invite them on thinking you'll counter.
Go at them with the best you've got to offer and they might just be good enough, it's your ONLY way.
And if you do that, i think we can beat the lesser teams.

Wow. Where to begin. Can’t believe I recorded this disaster to attend Easter festivities with the family. I promptly deleted it. Prior to this match, I had a concern about us going ahead early and then bunkering and conceding 2 goals on set pieces, a clear strength of Palace’s. I completely underestimated their team speed. They’ve always looked so slow and plodding in the past aside from a few cases of individual brilliance, IMHO. But my god, they looked to be playing on turbo mode (to use a crude video game analogy) from about the 30th minute onward. Clearly our team was gassed a lot sooner than even Javi anticipated. Accordingly, I don’t understand the direct/long ball approach that we employed often (they had the speed to defend and we clearly were too tired to execute).
It’s tough to come away with clear thoughts after this one. I really think Javi is left scratching his head and can’t help but feel let down by the players. Our back 4 looked slow and shell-shocked the entire match. Ayling’s been a liability for the past 5-6 games now…the tape is out on him. Firpo had a howler and both Struijk and Koch clearly lacked pace…same with Roca. McKennie* had an average effort and our attack lacked ideas (and basic finishing from our clear chances). Should’ve probably started Summerville over Jack who was always going to disappoint following playing the past two full matches. Sini faded quickly and Gnonto isn’t in shape. Rodri and Rutter offered nothing. Summerville was a complete oversight, IMHO. Meslier has been slowly creeping into poor form of late (decision-making on whether to rush out or hold back is almost backwards at times). While a lot of great chances were conceded, he could’ve done better…and tbf, I’d probably have preferred Palace’s backup in goal vs. Meslier. Would’ve likely reduced the goal differential.
I really doubt we are this bad as Palace’s fitness advantage and Roy’s tactical genius/new manager bounce contributed a lot to the score line, but we probably aren’t as good as we thought we were after Forest. Really tough to say at this point.
Really curious to see how Javi responds to his players after this one. If this were American college football, one of the few sports competitions in America where every game matters (possibly the only one), the coaches from any of the top teams would be absolutely murdering his players in practice the week following a tough loss, let alone a blowout loss like this one. I know there is a Ted Lasso analogy there, but my god, I perish the thought of the type of practices Nick Saban (google him) would be running this coming week following a loss like this.
*NOTE: did anyone notice no one rushing to see how McKennie was doing when he was hurt at the very end? I can’t help but wonder if he was one of the vocal members at halftime which ruffled some feathers.
If I’d have switched off after our opener and then saw the score at the end, I would have thought someone had got the score the wrong way round.
Palace couldn’t put any passes together and their keeper was keeping them in it. Our midfield was getting stuck in and breaking up play and our defence looked untroubled.
We all know our frailties from set pieces and to start the collapse that’s exactly how Palace got back in the game.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I had a bad feeling when we went in level at the break. Still didn’t expect such a capitulation though.

Absolutely atrocious recruitment for the past 3 years....but I include Marsch in that. Awful appointment that never should have been.
That's fair enough - Marsch was responsible for some recruitment.
Hopefully, this result was just an aberration. It is difficult to understand how it all unravelled. We just got blown away in the 2nd half, but you have to give some credit to Palace they won virtually all the 50/50’s and second balls. This was a complete sea change from the first 30 mins, when they completely rattled.
It wasn’t about one or two players it was the whole team that simply just collapsed as a unit.

One thing I did notice from the Forest match that when we scored our equaliser WM didn't look to even celebrate, no arms going up etc, just like he was detached and not bothered. He passed to Roca, Roca shot, Harison followed in to score and not even any outward sign of emotion. Seemed strange but may just be me reading more into it as he ran his socks off in that game and I would think a disinterested player doesn't do that.

I watch around ten times more American football than ours... I've been watching college tape for the last 3 months, getting ready for the draft and then rookie drafts that come after. Plus I run the Mock draft on ....... and partake in others

I have been reading through comments and a few to allude to a weak starting line up. I am not sure what the alternatives are unless we start inexperience. Summerville and Rutter are ideal inclusions for playing on the break because they are good ball carriers. Hence why they are probably most effective when playing away.
It is too late in the season to put Gyabi in unless injuries dictate, Gracia will always, like just about every other manager go with experience first.
Gnonto is the only player who has been unlucky not to start since returning from injury. Albeit his cameo appearance yesterday did nothing to promote the suggestion he should start. He looked a very frustrated player.
Sini was great for 35 minutes and then seemed to largely fade out of the game. He was completely ineffective in the 2nd half before he was subbed.
Not sure what can be improved with the line-up taking into account forced absences.

Gnonto looked angry and disinterested when he came on. Perhaps he had the hump at coming on when we were already 3-1 (I think) down.
The flowers of common sense do not grow in everyone's garden
Listening to a Palace phone-in podcast whilst working this morning.
Palace fans didn't expect to win at Leeds, a draw was the best they hoped for.
They can't believe how both teams were so different in each half.
Sam Johnstone saved them going two down.
Sacking Vieira & appointing Hodgson was pivotal.
Woy's team selection/playing players in their correct positions/style of play has significantly improved them.
Olise & Eze have been asleep all season, outstanding since Hodgson/Lewington returned.
Leeds go gung-ho in the first-half, their pressing was immense, putting Palace under pressure & were concerned going one down. Once Palace equalised & come the second-half Leeds looked shattered & couldn't cope with Olise, Eze & Ayew running at them with pace.
Palace's recent losses in the main were against teams above them, expecting more victories against the Saints & Everton as they generally beat the teams in the bottom half of the table.

Our subs were running up & down the touchline for five or six minutes, meanwhile Palace popped in another goal, changes were required earlier as we appeared drained after the break.
Truth is, we were simply not good enough, we've been outplayed by Palace, Brighton & Arsenal of late & many times under Marsch too, the reason why we are in a relegation battle once again.
