its unrealistic to expect a player to stay on a four year deal , when the reality is clubs will pay what leeds will want for him. he isnt on big wages , neither will it enhance his career and international prospects by playing at leeds on the laughable pretence leeds will go up automatically next season . this club is in a mess, no manager , no idea who is staying or going, no idea what the financial situation is whatsoever, , getting leeds back up wont be a quick fix , most of ortas signings are abandoning ship now , they wont be hanging around next season hence the loan deals been offered . leeds have to cut their losses and get a squad together who want to play for this club and want promotion . most of the first team squad from last season wont be here next season and will be gone for one reason or another . gnonto is one of the few players leeds will make a profit on , and keeping a player who wants to leave will be a complete waste of time in the long term . all i can say is if he is still here in august i will admit i was wrong , but watch this space ok .BradWhite wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 1:42 pm He has 4 years on his contract not 1 year then allowed to leave on loan then be a free agent like Koch is which is to free up his big wages, it is up to the board on Gnonto's future and not his agent at this time.
If his agent is keen to move him on and he has a release clause or really wants to leave for bigger and better clubs and we don't want to stand in his way then we set the fee + add ons and not allow other clubs to dictate what they will pay or not pay - otherwise he stays with us and gets us promoted.
He agreed and signed his contract, he has no argument.
I have heard of players that threw strops about not wanting to play and they are sent out on loan or benched until they stop sulking.
We can't get rid of every player that is linked to moves, the high earners on short deals or release clauses will leave and we have to rebuild and quick
We might have been relegated but the club is in good financial stance, staying strong and tenacious is what we must do.

I'm not saying he won't be sold on, it is very likely he will be but it shouldn't be on the cheap, I am stating that we don't need to sell him at all, his value will rise if he has a great season in the Championship and gets us promoted, than risk relegation with the like of Everton. (I think other clubs value him higher, it was a cheeky low ball rumoured offer)
The 4 year deal allows us to have significant control of his value and investment otherwise they wouldn't have them in place, unless we buy duds that we want shut of.
I'm fairly sure that the club we bought him from will want a cut of the sale. (FC Zürich)
15m is ridiculous, double it and add then some more, he is a potential superstar, put him next to 35m Rutter who we have to pay high wages in the Championship.
Leeds have done some hideous buys and under value sales under previous owners I would think that a global sporting enterprise like SF49 have more business sense. We are not in financial ruin to command a fire sale of all of our players.
He is 19 years old with a bright future ahead of him, if he leaves then it will be because Leeds back down to their set valuation fee, otherwise we have no obligation to sell him.
Contracts might not be worth the paper they are written on but he wouldn't win any arbitration case in court if he was forced to stay put.
Almost all of the players are linked with moves, nothing will happen until the owners and their investors are ratified.

but the whole point of my argument is HE WILL BE SOLD , what fee he goes for or contract he is on is irrelevant , thats for the clubs to sort out between themselves . the point i am making is we cant make a direct sale with the vast majority of ortas signings without taking a massive loss , or sending some of them out on loan in the vain hope we actually get some club to buy them , because if any of them come back we will be stuck with a bamford situation where we have to pay players on ridiculous wages until their contracts run down who are nowhere near good enough for what we are paying for themBradWhite wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 3:13 pm I'm not saying he won't be sold on, it is very likely he will be but it shouldn't be on the cheap, I am stating that we don't need to sell him at all, his value will rise if he has a great season in the Championship and gets us promoted, than risk relegation with the like of Everton. Many players have had relegation wage reductions built in their contracts or relegation get out clauses.geronimo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 3:32 pm but the whole point of my argument is HE WILL BE SOLD , what fee he goes for or contract he is on is irrelevant , thats for the clubs to sort out between themselves . the point i am making is we cant make a direct sale with the vast majority of ortas signings without taking a massive loss , or sending some of them out on loan in the vain hope we actually get some club to buy them , because if any of them come back we will be stuck with a bamford situation where we have to pay players on ridiculous wages until their contracts run down who are nowhere near good enough for what we are paying for them
Some of the high earners are leaving anyway except for Rutter but his wage will be cut.
We will lose on players with a year on theirs but that is not as clear cut as simply getting shut, it reduces the wage bill but they do not actually leave for free, there are add ons to almost all contracts, that's how free contracts work.
I have already said Gnonto will most likely go but if he does we should cash in on him.
Of course it matters how much we get for him, it's a business, and I'm fairly sure the new owners didn't accumulate almost 6 billion quid by losing money with slap dash business decisions.
We are not in a financial tailspin.
I'm glad you're not my accountant.

Re: Wilfried Gnonto
Yes we lost TV revenue but we are in a better financial situation than we were the last time we got relegated, in a better place than the majority of the Championship clubs, main investors ready to join the club, parachute payments and hopefully decent cash for the ones that leave so we can use the loan market and buy decent players to compete in this league, use our youth academy too, flogging off players on the cheap is not good business when we do not need to, makes zero sense to do that.geronimo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:35 pm Yoiu don't have a clue what the.finsmcial state of this club is. we have lost millions just by Been relegated all the fans will Care about in August is whether we have a team and a manager that is capable of challenging for promotion next season my guess is we will be nowhere near but all will be revealed in August as they say
Had we gone bust that's when the vultures circle and we take low ball offers for our players, we are pretty far from going bust matey, and if we don't get our valuation for them or as close as possible then they stay on reduce wages and get us out of the mess they put us in.
We can't do anything until everything is ratified and that includes 11 or so possible investors, all of this (the sale) would have happened on the final day of the season but Radz had only put in place the sale based on staying in the EPL, he made no plans for the sale based on relegation and that is why we are waiting.
If we flog off all of the players (cheaply) we will have no foundation to build on.
There is movement but we won't see how much until everything is signed off, then the manager will be announced and the work starts.
Not a great start but the 49ers won't want anymore delays, let's hope they appoint the right man to do the job.

Re: Wilfried Gnonto
Gnonto played 60 minutes for Italy U21s last night, as a striker in a 3-5-2
Had one good scene in 2nd half, when put through on goal from the right, but blasted the ball into the side netting, but other than that was ineffective.
Clearly not comfortable as a striker, he was drifting wide and deep a lot, to try and find the ball. Not his day, or Italy's, as they finished 3rd in the group, behind Switzerland, who lost 4-1 to France and still qualified, on most goals scored.

So, a couple of bits of bad 'news', not definite, but it's rumoured here that...
There is a clause in his contract to let him move on if relegated, as there definitely was for an extra payment if we stayed up.
The clause is set really low, and 30% of that will go to FC Zürich.
Again only speculation from a couple of people here, but a 5million euro payment for Zürich was the talk here yesterday evening at a friendly game, which would mean the £15m talked about could hit the mark.
Grim if true, as it seems very low, but a realistic price to set when Leeds and Zürich and the agents set the deal last summer.

Re: Wilfried Gnonto
Claudio Vigorelli, Gnonto's agent, has, at the moment, only got Gnonto and Nicolò Zaniolo as valuable assets in his portfolio, and it seems like he is desperate for a move to take place for Willy.
If the payment to Zurich is 'only' 25%, it would mean that £20m would see him gone, and that would be more realistic price for him, meaning that there is still a wad of cash coming to Leeds.
My guess is a move to London.

All I know is the talk is of 5 million euros here, and that seems very definite.
I was told that sum by 2 different people.
One is employed by the Club, and one is self-employed, looking after players, in an advisory role.

I'll be very surprised if he goes to Everton when plenty of interest will come from the top end of the table or from abroad.
Arsenal have an eye on him but he won't get many games with them but I think Newcastle will come in for him.
He is worth far more than £15m.

Standard sell ons are percentages off the profit not the sell on fee.

If they is a release fee in his contract, the bare minimum he would be allowed to leave for, which is by all accounts is £15m then that is a contractual 'get out' clause that carries legal obligations.
No one can stand in his way if that fee is met or bettered, unless a bidding war starts then the 49ers have power, which may or may not be to the club he prefers to join.
He may well end up at Sevilla seeing as Orta is chasing several of our players and he was the one that orchestrated his contract.

If there's a minimum sell-on price that has to be met, and FC Zürich know what that is, then surely it would be basic maths to know you're getting at least 5 million euros, or am I missing something?

they will get 15 million easily, personally i would be looking to double that , with add ons etc , but again its all ifs and but the starting price could well be above 20 million if a bidding war starts between several clubs it all depends who is interested and how much they want him in todays market 20 million is peanuts for a player with his ability and potential , he is better than summerville and he is on the radar of several clubs already .BradWhite wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 11:38 am Not quite...

Apparently Gnonto who is on 4 year contract has NO release or relegation clauses in it.
His agent will want to move him on but that £15m is miles off now unless our new owners are a soft touch, highly unlikely because we do not have to sell him and we can price him out and keep him.
£30m+ or he stays put. (IMO)

A lot of this depends on how much of the niners own money they want to invest. Looks like they're happyish just clearing the decks and starting again. We get the 45M in parachute payment plus whatever we make in sales, salary savings and the Niners money on top if any. If the EFL green light the Niners (and for me this is the hold up) then we could be looking at a fair sized pot to buy players from..
If Rodrigo has left the club then that's 5M saved already.

It would be risky to clear the decks, we need a foundation to build on, selling Gnonto on the cheap is not something the board will contemplate, they will want at least 30m.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 7:55 am A lot of this depends on how much of the niners own money they want to invest. I think there are lots of things going on behind closed doors to bring in players and to cash in on ones we can't keep, obviously we will lose on some too.
There are supposed to be several high profile sports people (in the USA) wanting to invest BUT fans have to understand that they are investing for a reason and that is to see a return for profit and that happens 2 ways, success or milk the fan base.
Gnonto, Wilfried
