No win for him now though, the fans will be firmly behind the club. If he stays, it’ll take a while for the fans, particularly those in the ground, to accept him again. If he goes, he’s a snake who betrayed the club who gave him his chance.

I suspect he will get his way out of the club, but his first return to Elland Road, should there be one, will be interesting.
He is a cracker.

He is certainly not doing himself any favours. Just have to see how it all plays out.
Is that an age that excuses bratish behaviour? I mean if it’s actually true that is. He should be capable of understanding a decent way to conduct himself and ignore outside influence. Age is a crap excuse

Yeah the wife always says the same “all they do is kick a football around”. Tbh I’ve no idea if Gnonto is really doing or saying what is being reported but if he is it just sums up modern sportsmen for me and he supposedly has a history of being a spoilt child according to Zurich White (think that’s his name).
No i won't i'll say it as i see it if i was the owner of Leeds and in control of his contract and wages.

Are you some kind of law maker on here? Who are you to tell others to give it a rest? You do as you see fit pal but don't tell others what they should and should not do! I can be bullish on here at times but I DO NOT tell other people what they can and can not post! Gnonto deserves what is coming to him...

Not a comparison there at all.
What's age got to do with it?

One was risking a genuine Childhood dream move to one of the biggest clubs in the world but acted in the best interests of the club despite the potential impact for himself.

The other is a teenager with a dozen or so decent Premier league games having a tantrum over relegation battlers.

Age is no excuse for being unprofessional

Footballers who are on a four-year contract shouldn't be allowed to throw their tools down & go on strike, he's only been at Leeds seven months, who does he think he is?

Well done to our board for standing up to Gnonto & his agent, he hasn't any rights to demand this action & dictate to his employers/club.

The modern footballer's behaviour stinks to high heaven & are an utter disgrace.

Do we really know the truth about Gnonto. Probably not. But the excuses for his and other footballers behaviour if it’s true just cracks me up.
My daughter is far too good for her current company. Yes I know I would say that but she is. 100% way too good. Awful company who care little for their staff but yes she’s well paid and under appreciated. Has she ever refused to work because she wants a better job. No. Grafts away because she has great work ethic. Sadly missing in elite sport generally speaking

This is absolutely spot on ...

Statement.

Earlier this week, Willy Gnonto and his representatives were informed by the club that he would not be sold this summer.

Following those conversations, Willy felt he was unable to play in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town.

Despite training for the last two days, Willy has informed Daniel Farke that he still does not feel able to play this weekend and has not travelled to Birmingham for the game tomorrow.

This is now an internal disciplinary matter and the club will make no further comment, other than to reiterate that Willy Gnonto is not for sale.

Right so he's sulking, fair enough, sulk ya little fcker, we want 25m end of.

Abusing a 19 year old is hardly a decent way for people to conduct themselves either.
I am not defending his behaviour- I am adding context.
Yeah he is a professional footballer and is earning alot of money. He isn’t the first young footballer to make stupid life choices and he won’t be the last.
If he is the drama merchant that has belatedly emerged from his time in Zurich then it was another poor signing as the due diligence was clearly lacking.

Excellent point made about the agent. I do feel this is all about the agent because Willy definitely seemed to be giving everything last Sunday and even more so after being subbed when he sprinted to be with the celebrating players at the end. It is the absurdity where the agent gets a hefty cut of the transfer fee so why would the agent want him to stay at a club when he, not Gnonto, sees the pound signs? Makes even more sense to try to get him to go to Everton as then the agent could look to force through another move in a years time after Everton get relegated.

And i couldn't give a flying fck if he wants to fck off, let him, if he thinks he'll progress at EFC under Dyche, then give me my 25m and i'll drive you there and wish you the best of luck and hope we pass you on your way down.

Fair play to Leeds on this, they hold the cards.

Of course age plays a part in making poor choices- when the principle in this saga is 19.

Exactly, it's now business transaction, what does he want us to say " awe God bless ya lad, we'll just make sure we get our 4m back first if you don't mind"

Now that would make sense yes, but he can fck off as well, i do also feel that Willy (ok he's young) does have an air of petulance about him, but that can be worked on, i'd like to see him stay, but not really arsed if he goes tbh.

I also feel Willy knows he's not in DF's first 11 if ALL are fit.

If all is as it appears, I hope the LUFC stance will be picked up by other clubs and the laughable current scenario where the tail wags the dog, ie. where players act as they see fit for personal gain irrespective of contractual obligations, is brought to a close.

About time we saw a sea-change in the football power balance.

Unlikely to happen though.

True enough. If Sinisterra, Summerville, and Harrison are all available Gnonto is on the bench.

He really needs to get his head screwed on straight. He's doing nothing but damage to his own cause by refusing to play.

Good for the club for refusing to negotiate with this little terrorist. He signed the contract, he can honor it.

Thing is he's one of the best 3/4 players at the club, .. I don't do the cut my nose off to spite my face so would happily see this resolved in our favour, Willy playing for us again or sold for really good money. Freezing him out helps no one ..

This sort of thing happens on a daily basis in American Football as you know, sometimes it gets sorted and sometimes it doesn't ... No point sweating it.

What an ff’n loser. And the club has to take this stance to set proper precedent for other agents. I’m sure they’ve been getting sh$t offers from other clubs that feel Gnonto has leverage
