The concern would be whether it is quantity over quality in the same way we sold Raphinha and KP and bought several players but made the team weaker and the squad at best marginally stronger. Have we spread our money too thinly and would we have been better say spending it on 2 or 3 top quality players instead and hoping that we didn't have an injury crisis at any point.
Sounds good in theory, but many of the real quality players available weren't interested in joining us ....yet!
I dont think it would've made sense to make 2 recruitment for 40m each.
Everyone agreed we don't have enough depth in key positions. We have hired in this window primarily for depth. We aren't at the point where we can hire for depth at top quality. Arsenal and the like have that luxury.
I have watched the scouting reports on every one of our incoming players. Pretty much every player is considered "on profile" for what we need now.
When we signed Solomon, all the "realists" and "experts" here went off thrashing and wailing about Farke, 49ers and the recruiting team needing to be tarred and feathered - he won't play more than 60 minutes then he'll spend 6 weeks injured, what the hell are we doing, blah, blah.
6 months later he was the club hero.
I wonder if we'll see the same thing with players like DCL? If so, of course, the "realists" will say he was bound to get back to form at some stage.
We won't see the full shape and quality of this new squad until well after the first international break.
But apparently some forum members are so skilled they can tell before the squad is even finalized how bad it is.
I dont have that level of skill. I'll just have to rely on old fashioned observation.
