I can see one more coming in and a few leaving.
Cussie, we are now in the real world, football wise, and some fans cant get their heads around that. Your right about not going to be scoring goals from all over the pitch, this is going to be a steep learning curve for a lot of players. We have to be able to grind out enough points to keep us up regardless of how poor some of the games might be. Can we do that ? do we have the players to do that ? no one knows for sure. We have to remember we are not competing with the big 6, we are battling with the likes of the 2 clubs that came up with us, plus West Ham, Wolves, Fulham, Everton, and such like.
I dont think we will get a clear picture of how things are going till after Christmas, our squad have a lot of hard work ahead of them to gel into what last seasons squad became. For now we need to make sure we can at least keep in touch with that bunch of teams and not get cast adrift too early.

This is about right Cussie^
I don't think we want to sign a £50m individual on mega bucks wages (I don't think you'll find the right one anyway)
Yes it would be nice, but where are they, bigger clubs are looking for them and until we get a bit higher up the league to attract them we've got to stabilise first and foremost.

Integrate this new lot and see where we're at - The jury is still well out yet, and on so much including the manager who we've got to see integrate these players and get them playing something solid enough to survive, and hopefully 10th would be a brilliant first time back, top of the bottom 6 will be solid enough to buy some more, let's get to the end of the transfer window and a few games under our belt, see what we've got and where we're at.

And by using Dcl as the example - He's free for gawds sake, if things work out the positives and the 'possible's could be magnificent, if you take a really positive view the lad might even break into the England squad which means he's doing unbelievably well for us!

But yes - Some are already sharpening knives waiting for the fall, it's so miserable, it's like they can't wait for him to do his cruciate in the first game so they can just come on here and go to town with 'I told you so'

Every single person on here can see his past record, but the positive ' what if's'... far outweigh the negative of paying him a wage.

28yo - That's supposed to be prime age for a footballer.
I clean forgot about the "free" aspect for DCL. Good point :)

Always wish I had a reversible name.
James Justin.
Martin Russell.
Daniel James.

Or a palindromic name.
Etikite.

My surname is god backwards.

We used to know someone called Mike Hunt.
For real.
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

I dont think it would've made sense to make 2 recruitment for 40m each.

Everyone agreed we don't have enough depth in key positions. We have hired in this window primarily for depth. We aren't at the point where we can hire for depth at top quality. Arsenal and the like have that luxury.

I have watched the scouting reports on every one of our incoming players. Pretty much every player is considered "on profile" for what we need now.

When we signed Solomon, all the "realists" and "experts" here went off thrashing and wailing about Farke, 49ers and the recruiting team needing to be tarred and feathered - he won't play more than 60 minutes then he'll spend 6 weeks injured, what the hell are we doing, blah, blah.

6 months later he was the club hero.

I wonder if we'll see the same thing with players like DCL? If so, of course, the "realists" will say he was bound to get back to form at some stage.

We won't see the full shape and quality of this new squad until well after the first international break.
But apparently some forum members are so skilled they can tell before the squad is even finalized how bad it is.
I dont have that level of skill. I'll just have to rely on old fashioned observation. :-D
If you're on about me, no I didn't, I said Solomon would be a terrific signing and would be unplayable at Championship level.

I've always loved the parents of the cricketing umpire Bird and also the parents of the wicketkeeper Russell for going with Dickie and Jack.

Unless Leeds have something late planned, you might be right.

We really need a prolific striker, because Piroe is proving ineffective against the nous of PL defenders and our alternatives can't be relied IMO.

My pre-season optimism was predicated on us getting the 10 and 9 we needed before Sept 1st, if that doesn't happen I think we struggle.
Similar my concern is that for all we have 3 strikers none are particularly going to create goals for themselves and we also haven't bought anyone to create chances for them. Create the chances and Piroe will score.

Its not all about you SG, Jeez :)

Be honest, there were a number of nay-sayers banging on about Solomon. Frankly many said the same when we brought in Ampadu.

The point is too many Leeds fans just seem incapable of taking the long view on things. We recruit a player out of form - the world is ending. We have a bad game - or 3 - the world is ending Make huge changes now!!

That in particular seems to be the case for our managers. Don't get me wrong, if a manager is not doing his job and meeting the goals set by his boss (owners) then he must go. Its the old saying in business management - "hire slow, fire fast" (most companies do it the other way round).

I am annoyed with Farke right now. I watched his post game interview tonight and I didn't want to just hear him say he was disappointed - I wanted him to be spitting some fire.
He got the selection wrong and under-estimated the occasion.
But then I am also annoyed wiht the players. They did not put in a shift, never mind play for the shirt. I'm a big Piroe fan - but he showed no initiative tonight. He should not be starting on Saturday in my view.

So what you going to do - fire them all?

And I dont believe the solution - right now - is to fire Farke. Just as it was not the right decision to fire Bielsa (in my view) when he was.

We are in the same position right now as Sunderland - 3 points after 2 games and out of the league cup. We are ahead of Newcastle, Man United, Brighton and Fulham on the table?......Too early for that too matter I hear you say. I agree. That's the same reason why its too early to fire our manager.

As fans we can get as angry as we like, but lets stay behind the team for as long as we can. This constant Farke bashing is illogical and tiresome - and I'm not the only one on the forum with that view. It simply detracts from the discussion about the players on the pitch.

If we are 12 games in and have 9 or 10 points. I will be up there with you saying "managerial performance management" should be under way. (A corporate term for saying - if things don't improve very quickly you can pack your bags).

Blimey, what another smashing game Justin had, following up his impressive at Anfield.

Not as good as Bogle offensively, however he may improve that part of his game.

Defensively, he was very good.

I hadn't realise, how good he is aerially.

Won 9 headers. - one of them was the beginning of the move that led Piroe's fine shot just over the bar.

Best moment - Two crucial defensive interceptions.

Credit to James.

Wasn't overly keen on the big fee myself for a backup.

He's not as good offensively as Bogle but far better defender.

He's made 2 or 3 basically goal saving challenges in the last few games.

Without him we'd possibly be a few points worse off, below Forest and closer to West Ham.

Crucial.

Justin has had three fantastic games vs Liverool, Manure & Newcastle, Cjay.

Well worth the £10 million we spent on him.

He didn't get the deserved plaudits vs Manure on here. I must have been watching a different game.
