Agreed.... Like for me when you haven't got the quality to bring on to replace vs what they can you should just bring on players to crowd out the midfield space.... Instead it was clear they could walk through okafors midfield space and pilled us apart with ease afterwards. Bornauw I'm fine with thought it would of come earlier with rodons injury if anything... DCL the drop off defensively is huge (just from getting us up the pitch but also defensive headers which he wins so many of).The Subhuman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:53 pm Okafor for Stach, should have been Tanaka... Like for like is usually best. the only other sub of consequence was Nmecha for DCL whic is also not like for like and it showed.. The other three were time wasting subs, Bornauw/Tanaka and Gnonto all on in the 97th.
Tanaka for stach/DCL left on I reckon we win that. Was stach injured? Just looked knackered or did I miss something?

Perri/Okafor and Longstaff is looking like 50M ish wasted
Perri still better than Darlow but that's like saying Andy Robinson was better than Brolin

Nail on head, 3 clean sheets from 16 teams tonight. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:49 pm A lot of "dodgy" keepers in the prem. Donnaruma looks very dodgy and he plays for a team playing for the title... Alison for Liverpool was really bad v us. We've benifitted from a number of keeper errors, it's not just Perri, it might be the way the prem is atm, keepers don't get the protection they did 20 years ago.. ... Plus a lot of world class strikers.

Thought it for a while tbh... I thinjk the likes of Jennings and Clemence would struggle these days... Premier league wants goals and they're happy to let obstruction, pushing, holding etc happen. In the 70's keepers got free kicks for those...

Agreed, like Tanaka for stach, keep DCL on for 10 and bring bornauw on for Aaronson and crowd it out in the air and try to get up the pitch and win some fouls to relieve pressure.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:48 pm We lose any pressing high up the pitch with those two on. Absolutely not the players you want on to see out a game.
The newcastle sub's won it.... Not on farke totally now I've calmed down what a team with quality sub's can do on 65 minutes.

Why 64 do we have that sense that we will go from3-2 to 3-4 ! I was just the same and to make it worse I had a Newcastle mate chirping away at me and then to top it all Barnes gets the winner in the last second....I feel so low at the moment, expected it but can't believe it.

Fulham will not be easy and we left it all out on the pitch tonight, didn't get what was deserved.. It's been a nail in coffins for teams before.

Not sure what Farke sees in Okafor, bit of a luxury player and he doesn't defend. Which is usually a no no for DF... Nmecha is a winger all day for me, I've never seen him as a through the middle type.. We don't play wingers at the moment but he's cheap and a body, so no complaints he's here

The run of fixtures over the last 3 weeks has taken its toll.

So he goes across and we are effectively man for man pressing their front two with Joelinton Tonali and Gumares breathing down our necks.
Fact is they got lucky with a penalty award and put it away.
Farke is doing a hell of a job trying to bridge the quality gap with his team.

Farke has a job on his hands now after that.
Good run turns in to a bad one over defeats like that.
If people want to blame him thats fine but then what was Aaronson doing for the pen. And everyone gave up on the ball at the corner flag that Miley(?) kept in.
That led to a goal.
