The writing was on the wall, there was a ten-minute period in the first-half where our defence were all at sea. Too many scary defensive moments in the second-half for us to hold on against a pacey, quality attack. In the end, Newcastle's attack overpowered us.60sUnited wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:05 pm Why 64 do we have that sense that we will go from3-2 to 3-4 ! I was just the same and to make it worse I had a Newcastle mate chirping away at me and then to top it all Barnes gets the winner in the last second....I feel so low at the moment, expected it but can't believe it.

Mes, for me, is the best at the club. Darlow is the one I curse more than any other.Orange Box wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:46 pm He frightens me more than Meslier, and that’s saying something.

What a game we got a bit lucky at the end, apologies guys you will most definitely stay up more than good enough
.
We need 2-3 players in to really secure top4/6 this season schar likely to be out for a long time now.
Seen someone mention Bielsa if he was managing Leeds tonight Newcastle my team most likely don't win a draw at most.
Farke gave Newcastle confidence near the end.

Gutted by the result. A great game to watch but I always felt like our defensive frailties were going to kick us in the arse.
Maybe loaning the Chelsea CH is not such a bad idea.
Surely we are better than the 3 currently at the bottom of the league.

Farke allowed Newcastle far too much possession, any times you guys pressed and forced a mistake you basically scored.
Under Bielsa you don't lose that tonight, the guy got 9th place with largely a championship side at his disposal,I don't understand why some criticse him as much not one manager has delivered better than him since he left.

You must be a happy man tonight.
That result is a real sickener for us Leeds fans, but we'll dust ourselves down & go again come the Fulham game at ER.
Don't be too hard on Farke, he's done a magnificent job at Leeds on limited resources in the Premier League.

we have a goalkeeper who cannot command his own 6 yard box in corners and crosses. Very very poor.

Its the usual thing with some fans on here. If we dont win its all a case of our players and manager being crap. The opposition seem to have had nothing to do with it, they were just there to make up the numbers.BlackHillsPaul wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:41 pm I'm guessing you were not able to watch the game. Stach, Rodon, and Aaronson were all injured and HAD TO COME OFF! Yes, it hurts not to close the game out and win it. But give Newcastle a little credit. They kept fighting and found a way. It was a cracking match!!
I understand people being disappointed and us not hanging on to get a point that we desereved, but for some reality doesnt come into their thinking.

Perri is continuing to be a concern and the weak link. Can agree with changes being slightly late. But I’m mostly puzzled by the Okafor substitution as that further exposed us out left. If Stach needed to come off, then Tanaka was, for me, the logical fit. Bringing on Okafor just didn’t make much sense to me.Allrounder wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:23 pm Farke to be blamed. The changes came too late and Perri is just a rubbish goalie.

Just like players made mistakes in this game, so did Farke. He could/should have made better subs, but like all of us he isnt amune to making mistakes. It wasnt a bad performance against a very strong Newcastle side at home. And hard as it might be to do for some fans, give Newcastle some credit, it wasnt all our won fault we lost
The annoying part of this is after a good run of games and picking up points that we may not have expected, as soon as we lose, the usual culprits are on their soap box telling us how bad we are. Its makes for very boring reading

Irrespective of whether we win or lose, Perri is not good enough to be our goalkeeper. He's big and heavy and slow to react to every shot on goal, unless it's coming straight at him. IMO Farke has to ignore the millions we paid for him and choose a keeper that could be a safer last line of support for our lads. Darlow for me, though even Meslier would be better than Perri.

Fair point, Green. And as Paul said, what a cracking match to watch! Would’ve been incredible for the neutral. It was a close, tightly contested match that we were unlucky to be on the wrong end of. Credit to Newcastle. They are a good team and we were on their home turf. I think there’s a tremendous amount of positives to take away from this one.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 1:13 am Its the usual thing with some fans on here. But given such a narrow defeat, I think some fans are just trying to reflect on the fine margins that might’ve made the difference (as opposed to their having malicious intent or being unsatisfied). At least that’s how I interpret many of those comments.
Definitely encouraging performance. I’m hoping the injuries aren’t too severe. Lets keep the momentum going and build from this!

Re: Newcastle United v Leeds United Match Thread
Perri needs binning for the next few games and we've seen enough evidence now for that to happen. The precarious position we are in, we can afford very few passengers. As for Nmecha, he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team. I am hoping we can bring in one or two loans as it's going to be a gruelling end to the season. Farke is doing well in fairness with the sparse resources and quality he has, but needs backing.LoinerBoy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 2:50 am Irrespective of whether we win or lose, Perri is not good enough to be our goalkeeper.
