I know Stach has just come back from injury but you don't lose fitness that quick and you need to capitalise on situations like this away from home..... If he's able to play 80 he's able to play 90.

He's done it with DCL in similar situations and paid the same price. How many have we conceded in the last 10 mins now?

Last count was 9.
Farke doesn't make subs gets abused.
Farke makes subs get abused.

End of the day if sub Nmecha buries his chance we win.
We have to manage our players. Stach back from injury not played in weeks is gonna be running on fumes, looked tired a lot earlier than when he was taken off. So we don't have like for like well heck just gotta use what we have in the squad.

Just a very scruffy goal to concede, apart from that we defended pretty well and carried our own threat, we had the better chances even though we were penned in during the second half.

Yeah it's a sh*tter to concede a late one again but don't think it was down to subs/lack of subs or anything managerial.

Once again after dominating the first-half apparently, we sat back & the inevitable happened again.

Nevertheless, a excellent point.
Groundhog day in terms of sitting back when in front and conceding late again.

I am sensing some of the frustration from our fans (not myself for the record) is coming from the fact that we are still very close to danger. Had we had, say 36 points right now, most would have been happy with that point.

That's not his fault, he's a limited player.

The fault is with our recruitment team for paying over the odds for a player that no other EPL team was the slightest bit interested in signing.
Sshhh...don't criticise the recruitment team..

First half comfortable and probably should be 2 up, Villa were never going to be tripe all game so happy with a point. Nmecha goes back across goal and it's over and done with. Still a good header and equally good save 👌

Not sure I’ve posted any Gruev slander. Longstaff not impressed lately, neither has Tanaka but not the player for late on in this game.

Never heard the saying that attack is the best form of defence ?

Ever wondered why our defenders and holding midfielders seem to tire late in games when we are constantly under siege for the whole of a second half ?

No team has a worse record than us after 80 minutes, can't be coincidence.

Goal had luck absolutely but pattern was well worn before.
But we weren't sitting back, the goal came from a corner.
Not sure you can be sitting back when a corner is taken. :duno:

Whether sitting back increases a sides likelihood of conceding is a different argument.
We do concede quite a few goals even when we don't sit back,

It isn't really a case of us sitting back it is the match situation that dictates it. Villa behind throw caution to the wind and throw more players forward. We then end up getting a bit deeper and it snowballs. We did have a few decent breaks and create better chances than them.

The fact we could have scored a second is because of Villa pushing forward. On another day you can say gameplan worked when Nmecha's header goes in or DCL takes one of his chances.

Indeed. In fact while they did push us back for a lot of the second half we never looked like conceding.

It is and Nmecha was brought on and nearly got the second. End of the day if that goes in we win. Our defenders and midfielders will get tired because the ball keeps coming back and we didn't manage to get our 'ploddy ball' (copyright Cjay) going which would have slowed down the game.

Yeah it's a sh*tter to concede a late one again but don't think it was down to subs/lack of subs or anything managerial.
Farke used to get abused for making sub's on 80 minutes.... Its his prerogative as a manager but it is clear that listening to interviews with more successful managers there are two trains of thought on it. Subs on 60 mins gives more time for fresh legs to pay dividends and players to get into the game..... Keeping the same players on for longer allows for no drop in consistency while players get up to speed..... Pick your poison kind of choice.

Sub's of key players who are instrumental to the way we play even if tired weakens us to dramatic effect often forcing us to sit deep......

DCL even for nmecha means we have no outlet for long balls to relive pressure with the knock on effect we have more running/defending to do and more chances to concede.

Stach is another whose height wins us so many second balls.... And cuts out counters so often....
Ampadu is another..... (Rarely subbed).

Its less an attack on farke than on our board for not signing like for like cover..... A big tall forward like who forest signed on loan and who scored against us is a prime example.

My issue is that we crumble so often late on in games that there has to be a reason why..... This stands out even amongst promoted sides.

9 goals or more now in the last 10 mins with the most points dropped from winning positions.... For me I think its late sub's with a completely different style of player brought on causing gaps in our play that players don't adapt to quick enough to spot.

Today Stach for Long staff..... Both very good players but with very different profiles. They moved the remaining midfield over meaning gruev replaced starch in effect. A tired gruev at that who isn't even in the same ball park physically/athletically as stach. The knock on for the goal was in the area stach covered earlier in the game. Not saying its definitive but definitely more likely for me that he would have won the second ball.

On the whole though brilliant performance and farke needs a lot of credit for outdoing unai away with the players they have.... Brilliant performance. Just frustrated we can't get over the line and make these chances count.

It is not an anomaly that Leeds concede goals in the last minutes. It happens to other teams as well, indeed it is becoming quite common place, there has been 70 late draws this season.

Examples from recent weeks:
Arsenal threw away a 2-0 lead vs Wolves stoppage-time equalizer (4th minute of added time).

Man Utd snatched a 96th-minute equalizer vs West Ham (Benjamin Šeško).

Liverpool have dropped points multiple times to 90+ equalizers/winners (e.g. vs Fulham, Leeds).

Arsenal's last-gasp equalizer vs Man City... and let's not forget 17 January 2026: Leeds United 1–0 Fulham (home at Elland Road) Lukas Nmecha came off the bench and scored a dramatic 91st-minute winner (90+1'). a superb acrobatic/volley.

In short, many of the 70 draws "happened" because of late opponent scoring (equalizers turning a win into a draw) or back-and-forth late goals involving both sides. The league is in a proper "late-goal era" right now, with more added-time drama than ever.

You would cry too if it happened to you.
