Too many are looking at 18th place's points total, but you need to look at 17th place. Spurs got 38 last season with a -1 GD, so to better that, we'd need 39 points.

Teams being relegated with 1ppg happens.
It's not a silver bullet (hence why I dislike a specified aim) just say to earn as many points as possible.
If you aim for a certain amount of points you always run the risk of an unusual (but not unheard of situation like our 90 point trophy.

Is 6 points from our last 24 really going to keep us up? I can't see it.

2 winnables and 2 six pointers.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 7:13 pm Those Wolves, Burnley games at home, along with Spurs, West Ham away are huge.
Drawing away to Spurs and Hammers would be a good thing.

Erm people are talking about it elsewhere.
I was chipping in my thoughts.
Haven't complained about the point

Surprised he left Calvert-Lewin on over Nmecha tbh.
Calvert-Lewin has struggled with fitness recently.
Is in poor form.
He may work hard but doesn't offer an outlet.
Has no pace to run in behind, isn't going to dribble past anyone.
Would have thought of the pair the more mobile and technically better Nmecha made more sense?

Nmecha didn't offer much in the first-half.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 8:54 pm Surprised he left Calvert-Lewin on over Nmecha tbh.

Not sure Nmecha has better tech, very erratic with his close control and first touch. Not a aerial target man either.

Neither did DCL tbf.
Just think of the pair in that situation Nmecha has more useful skills.
Certainly more likely to get to a long ball or be able to trouble a defender 1v1.

I think he is, certainly when played to feet. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 9:23 pm Not sure Nmecha has better tech, very erratic with his close control and first touch. Not a aerial target man either.
More likely to be able to roll a defender and get away certainly.
Not as good aerial wise but in that setup it's not much use anyway, too deep and who do you Flick it on to?
Aside from that the fitness thing I'd have thought would play a part.
Just a thought.
No striker would thrive in that situation of course but think some are better suited.

Calvert-Lewin was very useful defensively when we had to defend numerous corners/set-pieces.

Our form is going wrong, at the wrong time. One win in 8 games isn’t great.
I know folk don’t like international breaks, but it can’t come soon enough for me. Yes, Spurs will get bodies back etc, but we need a reset ourselves.
Get a result Saturday night, as always I’ll be there, and get away from it for a few days.

He won 6 of 18 headers he wasn't that useful
Wasn't a massive criticism, didn't think he played well generally (the pen was awful) but I have sympathy for the 2nd half situation he was in.
Just think Nmecha had a better skill set for a team playing on in theory the break.

Re: Crystal Palace vs Leeds United Match Thread
DCL does offer the outlet especially if it turns into a match where Palace have all the possession, are camped in our half and all we have is a lump out of defence. If you have Nmecha instead then you need the defensive clearance to get over the head of the opposition defence for Nmecha to be able to get onto it. DCL as well can draw fouls and give us a bit of respite.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 8:54 pm Surprised he left Calvert-Lewin on over Nmecha tbh.

As it was it didn't really turn into a second half with us being stuck defending. We sort of need to merge DCL and Nmecha together - maybe that was what we were trying to get when we went after Strand-Larsen.

Re: Crystal Palace vs Leeds United Match Thread
I would say results rather than form. I think there has only been one poor performance, v Sunderland. Apart from that I think we could definitely say we played well enough to at least deserve a draw today, same with the Villa draw - either of those games if we had won it wouldn't have been undeserved. Against City we could have had a point etcBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 10:18 pm Our form is going wrong, at the wrong time. One win in 8 games isn’t great.

A win though would be most welcome.

Both Rooney & laughing boy Gudmundsson foul wasn't worthy of a yellow card on MOTD.
Rooney described Canvot celebrating GGs sending-off as disgraceful.
