Selected for the 2022 world cup squad but didn't make the cut. I think if Bielsa stays and we don't go down he probably has earned a few caps by now but relegation (nothing to do with him) and two years in the championship scuttled playing for two very good International sides. He has played 17 for Holland, I'd imagine he walks into the Indonesia team and I expect they've asked.

Quite shocking from our board I think. Why can't they play hard ball like most other clubs. :dun:

Why do we appear so inept in transfer dealings. Paying over the odds to bring players in, letting our players go on the cheap.

No idea.

Lack for nerve?

Brighton are getting over £50mil for Van Hecke and he's only got 12 months left.

Wonder if we are under time pressure - needing to get the deal done before the end of the 30th June so it counts in this year's finances and stops us going over any threshold.

Don't know enough about Van Hecke but he is a full dutch international with 17 caps so far and a regular starter. Tottenham also likely paid a bit more as DeZerbi is familiar with him, having been his manager at Brighton, and in going to Spurs he is lining up alongside his international defensive partner. As such it is a deal that makes a lot of sense for Spurs and justifies them spending over the odds as they know what they are getting and there is little to no risk factor involved.

its because he is not good enough for either of the national teams. Looking back over the past 2 seasons how many times in a game does he switch off - too many times that have led to a gaol being scored against us. He is over rated and fans on hear say he is good ONLY because he is left footed. Lets get the money in the bank and spend it wisely
Leeds need a great summer 2026 with outgoings and incoming players

Doubtful as transfers don't go through til July 1st and the financial year rolls over then too.. We could still lose Wilson, Someone else can come in for Struijk, it's ony a verbal deal with the club.

It's a bit harsh that.

Struijk has been part of team that has helped LUFC return to the top table in English table and he has worn the shirt with great determination, characte, spirit and given it his all whenever he's been on the pitch. He has been a credit to LUFC. He's been the right player at the right time and one within our means. He's never been a problem.

Some fans really do have very short memories. If he does go I wish him all the very best for the future. A promotion winninmg legend in my mind.

The whole "doesn't play for the national team" argument when it's Belgium and Netherlands feels a bit unfair.

In Struijks time Belgium have had Kompany: Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Vermaelen.

They've currently got Debast and Theate who are being linked with big moves.

Netherlands have had Van Dijk, De Ligt, de Vrij, Ake, Van Der Ven.

It's hardly like he's been kept out by Liam Cooper.

We've also turned down bids for him for years, why weren't we getting him tied down to a new deal then? Or if he wouldn't sign why not sell him when our negotiating position is stronger?

Best ball playing cb we have imo, Bijol the best defender.

Will be hard to replace Pascal.

Transfers can go through now and we have seen lots where clubs have got a deal done so that it counts in the years account up till 30th June - no rolling over - the money either goes into the years accounts just about to end or the next years. I think when we sold Archie Gray it was done prior to the close of the season and myabe even with KP and Raphinha too.

Difference with Wilson is we are not buying him out of a contract so the deal simply happens after his contract with Fulham ends. We could do what Real Madrid did when they paid Liverpool to end his contract early so that he could play in the World Two Bob Tin Cup thing last summer.

Yet Charlie Cresswell was kept out by Liam Cooper. Yet another unnecessary attack on a player who gave his all for the white shirt (Cooper not Cresswell).

It looks like both parties were of the understanding that he didn't want to sign a new contract last summer but no decent offer came in so we kept him for a year, possibly hoping he'd chnage his mind and sign a new deal.

My memory remembers a lot of fans wanting him to be dropped for Bijol when we were playing with 4 at the back and struggling.
A shame he is going but up to our recruitment team to sign someone better.

Yes he was and that was ridiculous.

Pascal has been stopped playing internationally by elite defenders, is a difference.

If he didn't want to sign a new deal could have sold him earlier for more money imo.

We've rejected multiple offers.

And over £20mil for Meslier according to Kinnear.

These are mistakes we need to not make imo.

Regardless I hope we have a better replacement than the Wolves dude.

We didn’t offer him the wages Brighton are offering so he’s going! £15m is better than the nothing we’d get next season. We pay naff wages compared to other Prem teams I’d imagine. Can’t blame him for going for better wages 👍
