I thought he had one of his best games for us yesterday.

Took the goals well.

But was more impressed with his other stuff.

Was a threat off the ball with his runs and actually showed some speed on occasion!!!!

The link play was very decent as well.

Hopefully becomes the norm

Was very good, no sign of rustiness or injury. Think it helped he came on second half when we were chasing the game. He needs to stay fit because he's our only viable number 9

Yes it was a decent outing for DCL in the second half but against a Leverpull team that was more a bunch of kids than their second string. It was also a friendly / kick about / training game and, saying that, DCL at times looked like he had two left feet.......

We still need another striker to share the burden up front with either Nmecha or Piroe in support. On that basis if we get another striker then one of them needs to move on or be moved on.

Possibly could be that he has been able to really push himself this summer as he will have more confidence in his body. Last summer whilst he was likely keeping himself fit he would have been being very careful as if he got injured then nobody would have signed him. As such he was probably still short of proper match fitness and sharpness when he became a regular starter for us.

So this summer he trusts his body having had a fairly injury free season, his first in a long time. He also has the security of being under contract. We could see the best of DCL this season. I would compare it to Bamford in the first premier league season - he had played nearly every match in the championship the season before after coming back from a serious injury. So he had trust in his body and had a summer to really get into peak condition - he then had a great premier league season (though hopefully it won't be the case that DCL then has injury after injury etc).
