If he is as good as many suggest, I have not been personally blown away like other posters - going out on loan puts him in the shop window. More likely to get a better return if he is playing regularly and proves to be as consistent as CJAY claims.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, he did okay but for me didn't look great albeit maybe a run in the side helps with that as you get into a rhythm etc.

The loaning of Gelhardt has for once worked in the club's favour as we got more than we would have done last summer or the summer before. However the concern at present would be the set price in the option to buy. Ideally that needs to be reasonably high so that if he excels we aren't letting him go on the cheap. If it is low then the loaning club hold all the cards - he does well they buy him cheaply (and possibly sell him on immediately) and if he does rubbish they simply don't exercise the option to buy.

If he has a season of performing well and staying injury free then his value should go up, and the option to buy fee should be set to reflect what his value could be.

These options to buy seem rarely to be taken up these days so not a great deal for us but does free up the wages I suppose.

No doubt Hamburg will come back next summer trying to negotiate either a lower fee or another loan.

On Elvedi we wait to see but he does seem higher up the football pyramid than Bornauw so hopefully an upgrade.

Piss poor deal for Leeds but if he wants to go it’s for the better! I do have reservations about his replacement too. Let’s see what comes out in the wash…

Does seem a poor deal for us but am presuming it wasn't like we were knocking back better deals and maybe other clubs don't see him as being quite as good as some on here do.

The option to buy seems very low though, would have expected double that as really it is so heavily favoured to Hamburg.

I don't see why people feel the need to knock Elvedi before he has even signed for us. I see him as being far more likely to be in Farke's starting plans than Bornauw ever was.

Elvedi is definitely an upgrade and a player better than Rodon/Bijol. Looks like Bijol is going to be the fall guy here but Rodon's place will not be guaranteed if he has a dip in form. Can only be a good thing buying Elvedi. Hamburg have shafted us on the Bournaaw deal...

Same! Bornauw is in Germany today having a medical. 1 year loan with option to buy for £4m-ish. Pretty sad deal tbh...
