They probably don't want to be distracted as they're rubbing their greasy hands over ticket and shirt sales, etc

I can’t understand why Phillips wasn’t playing, if he is injured (which I don’t think he is) why have him on the bench? If he’s not injured then you have to play him

Missed Llorente badly as well but, to be honest, even if Phillips and Llorente were playing I think we’d have still lost, they were head and shoulders above us in every department.

Already a must win game against Everton, can’t afford to get too far behind even at this stage of the season or we’ll never be able to catch up a la Sheffield United last year.

Not much more to say about that really other than a superb goal by Ayling who was one of the few players who deserved better than a 5-1 defeat.

Oh and the Referee was good 7.5/10 for him (would have been 8 had he given us the penalty towards the end 😉). Roberts dive was too theatrical and not even sure Maguire actually touched him anyway, so he probably got that one right as well.

Starting to think he’s had a bad bang on the head over the summer.
Koch was poor, gave our defence little protection.

We made it easy for them.

Play more defensively v the quality teams & catch them on the break as we did at the Etihad last season is the way to achieving results.

Not his position though.

H should have been at right CB and Struijk at left.

Did MB not notice that without KP our midfield is a vaccuum?

He's busy toeing the Kinnear line that we're happy with the squad?

Well I'm not :x

WhiteRose wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 2:01 pm Plenty of fans want to stay loyal to those players that got us promoted come what may. It’s bonkers to me, we got lucky with fans not been in stadiums last year as evidenced by our away form. Needed significant money this year to push on and build a proper premer league team. Haven’t bothered and as usual all the stadium expansion plans and grand schemes will end up in the bin as we gamble with a tumble towards the vacuum of the championship this time without bielsa.
You make a good point, no fans vs fans, this season could be totally different.

The stadium stuff is very premature, you build the team first the bricks and mortar second otherwise you could find yourself with £100millions of pounds worth of debt whilst in the Championship.

Running before you can walk and a mistake imo.

I understand the loyalty to the Championship squad to a degree but players like Forshaw, Costa, Roberts, bit part players? I dont understand the strange obsession we have with signing competition.

All this talk about signing a backup for KP, competition for Dallas and Klich in cm? Whats that?

We havent players so brilliant we shouldn't be looking to replace them, every signing we make should be with the sole intention of replacing first 11 players and making the old first 11 players our backup and the old backups surplus and sold?

The weird obsession with only looking for backups or competition rather than vast improvements is weird and very unambitious and a bit sentimental

"Difficult for us to recover the ball or create danger".

Marcelo Bielsa.

A decent midfield would solve both those issues

It's quite obvious that Radz & Co will continue to run a tight ship regardless of how many millions the club will receive this season. Last season they knew that new players were absolutely necessary in order to safeguard our PL standing which was achieved with plenty to spare but maybe that has lead them into a false sense of security hence only 1 major signing. We need to remember that millions upon millions have been lost through no fans allowed in which will affect all clubs but mostly clubs with little or no money at all which includes Leeds. Leeds spent money in advance of TV money last season and it paid off but I don't think Radz was comfortable with this policy . He knows this team can survive another season in this league and with all the ground plans etc etc the team will not be strengthened hardly. It's a long slog but to make progress it takes time and patience and treading water for a couple of years will be well worth the wait.

Much of our good run was down to the calm influence of Llorente, Pascal is more settled playing alongside him.

Take Deigo, Kalvin & Raphinha out of our team & we are not too clever :(

I'd like to know what input the 49ers have, because so far I've seen nothing. If they're not prepared to stump up and contribute to buying players then what is their purpose? Disgraceful performance after the superb equaliser. Now we know why he's called El Loco because Stevie Wonder could see that we needed to bring Phillips on. Still too angry to contribute more.

As brilliant as Bielsa is, when we are playing against a team who are at the same level as us, or better than us, we must change our tactics accordingly!
As we did at the Etihad last season.

There was case for playing two defensive midfielders especially with Llorente unavailable & v a top four team.

When will we ever learn our lesson.

They buy in and nothing more, the accounts show that.

In truth the accounts show all our owners invest very little for Premier league clubs.

Some Premier league owners invest more per season than ours have in 4 years.

It was a carbon copy of last year. Then, Philips was dragged out of position, today they did it to Koch. Then they had Fred, James, McTominay and Greenwood to gallop past us and in behind us.

The be caught once with those tactics was disappointing, to be caught twice is ridiculous.

Well, in my opinion they can do one! Not sure why Radz picked them if that's the case. If he doesn't have the funds to get us the players we need then why didn't he pick a partner that would?
