The NFCCG and the AFCCG can be great games but the Super Bowl often a let down.

Saw the 49ers live with the great Joe Montana playing. I was really excited initially but ultimately underwhelmed with the stop start nature of the sport. It all just felt a bit false. But hey that's sport for you. No one is right and no one is wrong, it really depends on what you grew up with I think

Hitting a Shane Warne googly is way harder than hitting a baseball. Ask Gatting, he could of had 10 attempts and still missed it.

I wonder if baseball players facing a knuckleball (basically the ball comes at you at a height and then suddenly drops straight down) would agree on that.

I really don't see why people feel the need to have a debate over whether one is better than the other. I like both cricket and baseball. The world would be a very boring place for lots of other people if we started analysing sports and getting rid of ones we didn't like.

Take Aussie rules, years ago i think ch4 started showing it, again i tried but coz no interest in any team and didn't really understand the game, got bored.

But i spent a year in Australia and some friends used to take me to watch Brisbane at the Gabba, absolutely loved it live and supporting Brisbane, totally different than watching on tele, they were telling me the craic and i loved it, especially the off the ball stuff.

Don't think baseball would float my boat though, but willing to try if ever there again.

It was an attempt at humour and I don't really care which is more skillful. I think I've explained my point of view and it's very similar to yours in that comparison is futile and I certainly wouldn't call anyone elses sport boring. It's interesting from a cultural point of view though like League v Union in rugby. And I would never want to get rid of any sport I didn't like, that's silly.

I grew up with football, but that didn't preclude me from falling in love with football a few years later.. You don't like cricket then?

Would love to go to Aussie Rules as they are so passionate about their sport and love getting pissed. Win win. Echoes of Gaelic Football maybe?
Maybe my baseball experience wasn't very representative of the sport as a whole. I seem to remember being told there was no ties/draw so they kept playing another innings to get a winner but we had to go to get the kids to bed or something. Cost me 300 dollars for the tickets so I wasn't best pleased. Hate leaving early

Regardless of the relative merits of cricket and baseball (and for the record, because of the ardor with which you all presented your case, I will try watching more cricket in order to gain a greater appreciation), I think we can all agree that football is the best sport and Leeds United are the best team.

Tbh I've taken 2 different games in 2 different US sports in isolation which is unfair. I would go again if given the chance but I just remember the buzz at going to see Montana at Candlestick Park and it not living up to my expectations which were probably too high and he was at the end of his career and replaced by I think Steve Young. Amazing stadium though.

It was middle of the afternoon, basically in a field with a little stadium. Loads of kids watching it, me not really knowing the rules and was fairly much bored.

A few years later and back in Boston and I went to Fenway Park and watched the Boston Red Sox play. Full stadium, floodlights on, great atmosphere, great result and I was hooked. A year later and the Red Sox won their first World Series for nearly a century - coincidence?

Candlestick was a dump. It got so cold there during baseball season they would award you the Croix de Candlestick if you sat through an entire extra-inning night game (I still have a few of those). The place was not built for American football, so many of the seats had an awful view of the field. Both the 49ers and Giants have new stadiums designed for football (American) and baseball, respectively, that are fantastic. The baseball park, in particular, is magnificent. People go to the games even if they don't like baseball just for the food and the views of the bay.

Fenway is a pretty special place; I love it and I hate the Red Sox. Wrigley Field in Chicago is fantastic, too.

I have been to World Series games, NFL and NBA playoff games, college rivalry games, and many other sporting events all over the USA. Nothing, however, comes close to matching the atmosphere and excitement I encountered at Elland Road for a Championship game. Best venue anywhere.
