This is a strange one to me. Have we done this to get James off the wage bill? If so that will save what £2.5 x £3m? Is it worth weakening your own team and, more to the point, helping a rival for the sake of that kind of money?

If we had sold him and got our purchase money back or even a decent proportion of the purchase money back to put towards a January buy if required, then I could see some logic in it but, as it stands, this is bad business!

I think the club have fairly much acted fairly with DJ. It was clear we wanted someone in so rather than waiting until our signing was done and then trying to move on it made sense to have a move sorted for DJ. Unfortunately with the Bamba mess it has likely screwed up James's move. If it had happened a couple of days ago then it would likely have been a case of wating until the Bamba deal was sorted before making any outgoing move with DJ.

I don't think the club was planning a striker move but obviously Rodrigo's injury foreced the issue - why would we have been bringing in a striker to replace Rodrigo when he has been in such good form? I think without that any last minute deal would have simply been concluded if it was someone really high on our list who suddenly became available, like what happened with Raphinha and what possibly we had thought might happen with Cody Gakpo fella (or whatever his name is).

Luis Sinisterra looks like he's ready to fill that wide vacancy. He might not be as fast but his end product is better and a goal already speaks volumes about the colombians potential. Is ER witnessing another Raph in the making? We can only dream.

He was never a good signing! Why pay £25m for a fast runner (because he ain't much of a footballer). Man U took the p155: they bought him cos we wanted him then sold him to us for double the price 2 years later. Bielsa's fault. I don't know what he saw in James apart from pace. Terrible signing from the off. That said: LUFC have treated Dan James so badly today: hang your heads in shame! He did not want to go: you forced him out so we could get him off the wage bill to then sign somebody else. You did it before any deal was finalised leaving us a man down. Shame on you LUFC. Dan James can never come back here now because of the way he's been treated today. And a loan: which means he will have to come back! Joke...

I say good look to the lad, boy could he run and the amount of energy was fantastic.
If only he’d had scored more then this wouldn’t of happened, not his fault we had him playing in every position going due to injury’s last season. He never really settled into a proper playing position at all.

He’s bound to score now against us.
