Re: Leeds Utd v Arsenal Match Thread - Rodrigo starts up front as Sinisterra returns
Having watched the coverage so far of the rugby league world cup (big fan of rugby league anyway) I have no idea why their version of VAR is not utilised in football. The refs are miked up, when they go to video decision we hear the decisions and reasonings of the video ref and everyone is satisfied. The players are so more respectful, only the captains approach the ref, not like in football where they surround the ref like a baying crowd of hyenas. They have the stop the clock approach, so take your time idiots makes no difference as it does in football.

I'm going back to 505, I saw them at Sheffield and they were amazing.

Me too
Remember when Alan Smith first came through? There was such abuzz and excitement.
Admittedly Bamford is rusty and needs game time, but is he just gonna break down again?
Rodrigo has cost us a number of matches when he's dallied on the ball, when there was an obvious pass to play, got robbed and then the opposition has pillaged is on the counter.
All the good work of Kristensen, Koch, Struijk, Adams and Roca for 90 minutes gets unravelled in seconds each week by players who should have been shipped out quite a while ago.
One step forward and two steps backwards. Our survival is based on others at our level making the same errors and us seizing on them, while they fail to capitalise on our errors.
Been saying it for ages that we need these dead ballers like Ayling, Llorente, Cooper, Firpo, Roberts, Klich, Forshaw and Rodrigo shipped out and better brought in.
Is it any wonder we struggle with that crew hanging around choking our progression?

Can't win games with players who can't score! I think we're overdue a win, either Leicester or Fulham. Just need a bit of luck.

Scary to think how much they're taking up a week collectively. It must be close to £500k.

Yep, and nobody else wants them is the other part of the equation.
But you can bet your life that Meslier, Kristensen, Struijk, Roca, Adams and Sinisterra will all be scrutinized by clubs that are more ambitious than us.
That's how it is at this level, there isn't such a thing as treading water and surviving. You either progress or you're gone in short order.

Yep. Sadly it looks they'll all be gone on the cheap next summer.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 7:08 pm Yep, and nobody else wants them is the other part of the equation.

Don't let the board hear this, they think they are doing a good job treading waterWhite Riot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 7:08 pm

Stop worryin' about what people say, when it ain't gonna stop them anyway.

Not according to any website I can find, for example
https://www.totalsportal.com/money/cont ... -salaries/
Where does your £500k figure come from?

And I wouldn't blame them as this is a house built on sand. Short term gain is what Radz is all about.
If they go then it's even harder to bring in quality players as they won't see 17th as an attractive proposition.
I'm not saying Jesse's perfect, but he's in a frustrating position due to the board's approach and I believe he finds it difficult not to show his frustration.

That's not correct. Rodrigo is on £100k and Bamford £75k. Kalvin was never on £120kCarrick Dave wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 7:18 pm Not according to any website I can find, for example

Agreed. That's why making a change won't make a splat of difference. We need new owners.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 7:22 pm And I wouldn't blame them as this is a house built on sand. Short term gain is what Radz is all about.

Between 9 players. Rodrigo, Llorente, Firpo are on around £250k between them.

True, Bielsa and Jesse are not miracle workers and neither will be the next guy, if Jesse is sacked.
Just a short term approach.
No better example than Rodders scoring a few goals before the window closed and Radz says that'll do me folks. Rodders does his shoulder and they're then panicking running round Europe looking for a striker at the last minute and end up with Gnonto.
It's laughable.

Plus we lashed out about £60 million recruiting them. Being relatively new and not established at this level we're not in the position to make big mistakes in the transfer market, and then be saddled with expensive turkeys and their wages.
And again, whose gonna relieve us of their expensive, in many ways, presence?

Yep - it's tantamount to the club standing in a bucket trying to pull it up by its handle with that bunch of players.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 6:52 pm Me too![]()

8 players. Remember every player doubled their wages on promotion and we have no money to buy players. The wages aren't low, they're actually very high.
