Rutter isn't a striker for me. From the tape I saw before we bought him he didn't look to play like a striker

I'd like to see

Rutter, Summerville and Gnonto start.

But fully expect Aaronson, Rodrigo and Bamford to start with Harrison even though 3 of those 4 have done nothing of note for months.
I would agree with Somerville and gnonto but I'm afraid rutter looks totally out of his depth at the moment. pace and physicality of the premier league looks beyond him at the moment. hes young and will hopefully develop but cant see him contributing much to our survival. just as long as aaronson doesn't start and ideally is only brought on when we are 3 nil up with ten minutes to go which is the only stage where his contribution is likely to be positive.

I'd be very surprised if we came away with 3 points. I think they will be just too good for us. We will have our usual start were we will be on top without a shot on target and they will get either a breakaway or corner of free kick and that will be in the back of the net we will spend the qhole game the chasing shadows and theynwill go further ahead.

Can't envisage any other coach getting us out of that league. One thing for certain, we won't do a Burnley.
If we go down ,,,, don't want to dwindle too much on that scenario yet .... but if .... we need the best proven manager we could possibly find next season. One with proven experience. Not many top, experienced managers would fancy a championship side. But Bielsa would fit the bill (assuming relationship with Orta is still good - assuming Orta still here).

Burnley were an exception bringing in Kompany and stomping the league. But I don't trust us to find an unproven success like that

Anyway. let's beat Bournemouth, pick up 7 points from 5 games, and forget about talk of championship

Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 7:20 pm The fact you wrote about Ayling and Cooper needing to start is a real show of how awful our recruitment has been as a 3rd season Premier league team.

You are probably right though.

But yes I agree, just do something different.

It drives me mad when managers do the same thing over and over again.

I'd love to see Rutter given a chance, he may flop but he'd struggle to be more of a hindrance than Rodrigo and Bamford have been recently.
The truth of it is, I trust the old guard better than the new recruits. Our dressing room appears to be a mess right now. The ones who can turn this around are the old guard. The ones who've grafted for this club for 5 years.

We know that Rasmus-Koch-Strujik-Firpo at the back is a shitshow. Cooper and Ayling are not oozing with quality. But they are willing to put up a fight and hold others accountable. They're also humble enough to take blame when need be.

I'll never forget that shot a couple of months back of all the players on the bench huddled under blankets. We need real players to stand up right now.

Koch and Strujik are better players than Cooper. But Cooper makes a difference. He gets to the ball instead of waiting for the ball to come to him.

McKennie and Roca played for 2 of Europes super league clubs. But I trust the less talented Forshaw more in this scenario,

I could go right through the squad. But for me I'm picking the players that care first.

That goes for Wober too, stupid fcking managers having their preferred starters and no adequate back up to replace, why didn't the prick make Pascal and Firpo just as good a defender as Wober ?

Beyond me - and them it seems

Any answers Cjay ? Aussie ?
Kenny, are you truly unable to see the difference between a manager who had 3 seasons and at least 6 transfer windows to build a squad, and a manager who has been at the club less than 3 months and had no ability to recruit?
At least you’ve finally admitted that creating resilient squad is the responsibility of the manager. So, well done you. 👍

I think they see him as a player that they can transform into a striker. I think he has that in him. But he's a project. Baffles even more why we brought him into a relegation battle, breaking our transfer record on a player who isn't ready for the job at hand.

I feel the same.

If Dallas was fit, I'd trust Stuart more so than our new signings.

Only Wober, Adams, Gnonto & Sinisterra have the quality & consistency to perform in the Premier League, the rest can go ply their trade elsewhere for me.

For me it just shows some piss poor judgement in January.

We brought in a record signing forward who wasn't ready to play in a relagation scrap. As a result Joffy, who helped us scrape out last season goes out on loan. I know Joffy hasn't built on last season, but I would have trusted him to offer more than Rutter.

McKennie who hasn't shown much passion or ability to adapt to the speed of the PL comes in. Klich goes out on a free.

On current form, Klich would have been starting some of the recent games. And I'd rather see Joffy coming off the bench late in games than Rutter

We'd have got more out of Joffy than Rutter. I feel sorry for Joe as I believe he wasn't coached efficiently under Marsch.

That was Moxcow's rant on TSB last week. That we bought all these young players and had a coach who developed players and a big support team. Then Marsch came in with no history of development, just fist pumping and bravado. And there was no depth in the coaching team. It was as if we expected our youngsters to develop by osmosis.

My inclusion of Rutter is probably driven by frustration tbh.

Frustration with Bamford and Rodrigo

And frustration with seeing us spend £35mil on a player in January whose contribution amounts to absolute 0.

Just think the pace and trickery of Rutter, Gnonto and Summerville would cause far more problems than Aaronson, Bamford and Rodrigo.

It's something we haven't tried before

Rutter doesn't look ready fully agree, buf Bamford and Rodrigo have been useless for ages.

He'd have a hard job to do worse

Makes sense

But seeing Forshaw, Cooper and Ayling in the side is a depressing thought.

But see your point.

We do seem to have recruited some weak players mentally.

However Ayling, Cooper, Forshaw and Co are hardly pillars of mental strength and resilience either as they have shown many times.

To do that though he needs good coaching, coaches that can get him training in a certain way that improves him. I asked in a recent post who are our coaches? Who do we have to improve the playersor is it just the manager? Who is improving our young players? Is is Skubaba? Nice guy but is he really going to turn Rutter into a top class striker? Skubala's background is small sided futsal, hardly suggests that he is capable of improving individuals to any great degree, might make the team more cohesive but training a striker where to run, how to finish etc? So who are the first team coaches? Or is it just the manager?

Indeed it is. KP was vital to Bielsa's system and Adams was vital to Marsch's erm playground shite. Gracia has been unlucky in not having either a KP or for the most part an Adams.

People used to knock our record without KP, used it as a stick to beat Bielsa with, why was his system so reliant on one player? The trouble was that Bielsa had to create the player KP became out of almost nothing. Yes KP had a bit of ability but he looked more like an average league 1 midfielder than a potential international prior to Bielsa's arrival. Sadly Bielsa was not given much else to work with, our yout hwasn't really ready and nobody bought had the raw material that Bielsa needed for the position. Even Forshaw, who most though was a defensive midfielder given he doesn't score or create, was quickly identified as not being a defensive midfielder by Bielsa.
Maybe Lewis O'Brien was going to be the KP back-up then replacement but e baulked at the fee and will never know what Bielsa could have made of him.

Bielsa was expected to perform miracles with the players he was given but like Jesus creating wine from water he was then expected to repeat the miracle but he was not even given any more water and all that was left was the p*ss - yet they still expected miracles and the free flowing football, like the wine, turned sour.

All this talk of Bielsa coming back - I thought he had just taken the Uruguay job. If there is one thing we all learned he is very honourable, he won’t walk away from that job even if he fancied a return. All this talk is making Kenny fizz at the bunghole again.

Can someone please explain the definition of a proven Championship manager that keeps mentioned for next season if we go down.

Because for me you are talking about the likes of Colin, Bruce, Dyche, Wilder, Houghton etc who all have a very chequered hit and miss career.

What would he have turned Lewis O’Brien into ?? We actually dodged one by not paying 10 million for him.
