Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Congratulations to him but in all honesty didn’t realize how the Spanish national team must have fallen.
Hope it increases our pay day

He will get much better service, but I know what you mean.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Down to goals scored, for me not enough time on the pitch to warrant POTS. He is an elite finisher though and, for me, one of the best strikers in the Premandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 7:33 pm RODRIGO RECALLED TO SPAIN SQUAD
I thought his international career was done - which mean there was a chance of keeping him in the championship. Albeit a slim chance.
The idea of international football will now mean he'll be off for sure
Congratulations to him by the way. Many pundits had him down as our POTY this season

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
A replacement for Mariano Diaz who played 24 matches worth of minutes in 5 years
Hardly seems necessary
Anyway we will sell for £3mil according to Spanish media

He has to stay in my opinion. He would set the championship alight, still a proven goalscorer.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Wouldn't see the point in selling for anywhere near as low as £3m. If bids were that low it makes more sense to keep him even if it meant losing him on a free next summer. The £3m fee and his £5m wages would equate to £8m and that is hardly going to buy anyone that would be as likely as Rodrigo would be to score 20+ (barring injury).
Sounds like lazy journalism trying to bring the price down.

It could be his relegation release clause.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 3:53 pm Wouldn't see the point in selling for anywhere near as low as £3m. Jorge Mendes would have ran rings around Orta and Kinnear.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Love him to stay, he's been a success for us when playing striker, but I fear the worst in his case. Our last two Brazillians were excellent buysBen Scooby lufc wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 3:32 pm He has to stay in my opinion. He would set the championship alight, still a proven goalscorer.

Why Kinnear, I've just been told Kinnears's job has nothing to do with players

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Spain would have done much better in the last WC had they taken Rodrigo... that team lacked goals big time

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
I'd say the same. 3 million is a bit of a cheeky bid. For Leeds, it doesn't make sense and we might as well run down his contract at that price.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 3:53 pm Wouldn't see the point in selling for anywhere near as low as £3m. But, still in the Spain squad. So he might be pushing for a move too. I reckon we can still get 7 to 9 million for him.

Spanish media saying Rodrigo is allowed to leave for free.
And the reported £3mil is his wages.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
The article lacks any common sense at all. Even if we were desperate to offload him it would make no sense to do it for no fee given the season he has had. If it was no fee then it makes even more sense to keep him as his wages, let's say £100k per week, is £5m for what you would imagine would be fairly much guaranteed goals barring injury. The £5m saved, if we offloaded him, is not going to get a better striker in barring getting extremely lucky and even that would mean £5m and zero wages so even a striker on say £30k per week would then mean £3.5m transfer fee and 1 year of wages would be equal to what we would have saved.
Secondly and the bit which further ridicules the article is that if it is £3m for wages then that would mean Rodrigo taking a substantial pay cut. Even if he was trying to force his way out of the club I doubt he would be looking for a £40k per week reduction - even if he has a relegation reduction of his wages why would he simply be looking to move to any club that would offer him £60k p/w when a lot of clubs would offer him more based on the season he has just had.
Probably best to wait until deals are done before deciding on whether the actual fee we got was good or not.

It makes sense to let him leave on a free. Get him off the wage bill. Can't see him wanting to ply his trade in the Championship anyway. I would do the same with Bamford personally.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Rodrigo was lambasted by the Spanish press after his first international appearance in more than 18 months against Italy last night.
Spanish newspaper AS said of his performance:
"He was not fresh nor did he make the best decisions in attack. He shot loosely in an action that had better options in more correct positioning. As he was predictable, he was substituted at half time."

I still think he's got another good season of two left in him. Can you think of any better striker at championship level???

Was hoping he would have a blinder and then get some dosh for him.
