It's been a pleasure Toffee, please keep in touch and nip in here now and again, i'm of the thinking our clubs might be in for a neck and neck race this year for the dreaded word neither of us wants at the end

From what I hear it’s beautiful though obviously lacking the nostalgia of Goodison. I did hear there was an issue with concessions and that some fans actually got UNDERCHARGED for their pints.

As far as the team I think we are finally free of our PSR restrictions and while I don’t expect to be challenging for the CL we should be safely out of any relegation battles for the foreseeable future .

In general I hope think all fanbases can lack some self awareness so I’m always happy when I see a group of supporters with reasonable opinions and a basic level of respect for opposing fans who obviously share a common passion for their clubs.

Certainly a tremendous site for a stadium. Elevates the whole league to have grounds like that.

ToffeeInPeace wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 3:11 pm Greetings all, Everton supporter here.

I’ll give a brief take on DCL for those interested.

On the positive side of the ledger he’s a good character who will work hard for you. He does the less glamorous things quite well for a striker. His hold up play and physicality can be quite good, he’s pretty good in the air, he will track back when needed and contribute defensively.

On the other hand his flaws are well known. He’s hurt a lot. Perhaps that will change but it tends not to as players age and he has a lot of Premier League miles at this point. But that’s not his main issue. His main issue, for me, is that he’s simply bad at the primary job of any striker. He can’t score. You might look at his numbers from several years ago and think “but he did score”. Sure. True. But you have to put that in context. This was a time when Everton were creating a lot of chances. Most of his goals were on balls whipped across the 6 where he could gamble and direct them in. Any striker at this level should be able to do that. The problem is that he cannot create any of his own offense. He simply doesn’t create space for his shot or beat a man with the ball at his feet. He’s just not a threat when he has the ball. I can count on one hand in 10 years where he’s received the ball outside of the box and scored.

Perhaps it will work out for Leeds. Perhaps you will be able to tailor an attack to his style and allow him to be that “fox in a box” he was during his purple patch. Otherwise, I think you’ve bought a player best used when holding a lead or as part of a two striker setup where he can get the space he struggles to create on his own. I don’t wish him any ill will, as I said he’s a good character, but I am happy we’ve finally moved on.

Good luck on Monday and for the remainder of the season.
Don't suppose that you know of an Everton fan with the monicker Geronimo? Used to come on here a few times and was quite popular but hasn't been on in a while.

Bamford, Nmecha and DCL are all 3 very similar players and all have had the same issue with their career.

All 3 have little bit of speed.
All 3 can hold the ball up a little.
All 3 can head a ball.
All 3 have decent game I.Q
ALL 3 thrive in a front 2.
ALL THREE CAN NOT STAY FIT LONG ENOUGH FOR THE RUST TO FALL OFF THEIRGAMES TO ACTUALLY ALLOW THEIR ABILITIES TO SHINE.

It's really interesting that we are currently depending on them to be our source of goals this season.

Let’s give the fella the chance he deserves. There is a lot about DCL’s game to admire and he has a lot of experience at this level. For me he is a good signing and all this player comparative analysis is pure nonsense to me.

Let’s see what he does in the shirt first.

Exactly, and he has cost nothing, so let's get a grip of what Farke has battled against, and is about to battle against, because copy n pasted below are what 2 teams that have a huge head start on us are facing up to :

"Aston Villa have their own issues and they must be struggling to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR) because there has been a lot of talk of Ollie Watkins leaving this summer - they have signed another striker, Evann Guessand, but they definitely need to keep hold of Watkins too.

Villa's spending this summer has been restricted by profit and sustainability rules, with just Marco Bizot - the 34-year-old goalkeeper who arrived from Brest this summer - making his debut this afternoon.

Striker Evann Guessand, who has joined for an initial £26m from Rennes is on the bench, but Villa's side has a familiar look about it.

Newcastle themselves only hand Anthony Elanga a debut but he cost £55m from Newcastle while Malick Thiaw, a £35m arrival from AC Milan, is on the bench.

Yet it still highlights the gulf Villa must try to bridge this season if they are to return to the Champions League, with Emery and the club needing to work harder to find the solutions.

"We cannot avoid the summer has been challenging because the financial rules were conditioning our investment and our squad," Emery wrote in his programme notes.

"This is a situation that we know, we accept with responsibility, and we will overcome by trying to work harder and be accurate with our decisions."

Newcastle on the Alexander Isak transfer saga:

"I think it is a huge blow. Over the last few years Newcastle have done everything right, they have not gone over PSR rules, they have done everything within the rules, but for Isak to leave, if that happens it would be a massive setback.

They are trying to build a squad that is ready to compete for the Premier League and in the Champions League as well and if Isak leaves players will look at that and think. “If the best players are leaving, is that somewhere I want to go?”

I imagine what he wanted at Everton as he was signed on a free. Reports suggested he wanted 150 at Everton.

If DCL is our chosen striker then so be it.

But the expectation is that he's available every match and knocking goals in for fun :ok:

Allan Clarke, JFH and big Viduka managed it, so let's be meeting the standard that's been set.

I'm waiting with eager anticipation 8-)
