Had Trafford only just got up before the game.
He does play in his pyjamas sometimes.
Only he was a bit dopey to start with.
Old Whizzy Wissa nearly had him.

They need to work with him on his distribution. He is far too casual - which, aside from the risk of being dispossessed - breaks momentum when we have it. This happened a few times in the first half in particular. He gave Newcastle breathing room when we had them under the hammer.

Tanaka hopefully coming of age now. Did have one sloppy moment but apart from that another very good performance by him.

Thought Okafor was excellent, sure not everything comes off but such a threat.

Tricky situation with Bohaya given that we don't play with out and out wingers. May also be that if the obligation to buy is based on matches played then it may be that it isn't just starts and as such a 5 minute cameo might count as a full performance.

With Nmecha perhaps starting to play games with his contract Bahoya may become very important.

Lets remember he's been at the club a month, is young and so on a steep learning curve.
I cant understand why some here seem to think we have to use our whole bench all the time.
Could he have come on in place of Nmecha , maybe but lets try to see the bigger picture a bit more, Yes?

Not enough comment here about Danny James. I thought he made a huge difference for the short time he was on.
It was a great substitution because when your opponent is down and trying to press forward, a player like James makes a midfield nervous about pressing to far forward.

His cross that Nmecha bottled was pinpoint.
He then put in a run and strong shot that had Newcastle flatfooted.

He is a great asset off the bench - yes, even in the PL.

We did start with 3 midfield players but i think Tanaka and Ampadu were playing as a 2 in central midfield and Stach was playing more advanced on the right side of midfield. When Tanaka went off Stach moved more centrally to replace Tanaka and Wilson although a more attacking playing generally played on the right side pretty much where Stach had been playing.

So I don't think the formation really changed, just the type of players.

Midfield was definitely more compact imo than it was when it's Wilson or Aaronson.

I think it does make a difference, Stach is just a more physical and better disciplined player to have helping the Midfield so we don't get outnumbered.

Aaronson is too weak and prone to running around like a headless chicken and Wilson, well no idea what he does off the ball not much.

We went back more to what worked last season and it made a difference unsurprisingly.

Bogle,Gudmundsson,Ampadu, the workrate of these guys outstanding overrun all night by these 3 would love to have them in our team.

Very surprised how far off a Red Bull team you looked tbh.

Very safe passing with pretty meh work rate.

Usually for all their faults Red Bull teams run run run and pass or run forward.

Fully deserving win for Leeds this Men against boys, maybe Eddie wasn't so bad afterall that said i think Matthias Jaissle is a great young coach but it really makes no difference who was walking into Newcastle once Eddie left.



Annoying to think we had Anderson and Minteh who Anderson is now at the heart of city's midfield and Minteh is wanted by Liverpool.

Matthias Jaissle has done a good job if he can finish in top 10.

Geez we’re a hard bunch to please. I jump on here expecting everyone to be upbeat and there’s pages about how poor the subs were and how terrible it was to concede a goal.
I genuinely think we hate being too successful and would prefer that we eke out a 1-0 win with a last minute dodgy penalty. That’s what gets us excited, right?!!!

If we won 9-0 and missed a chance to make it ten - there would be three pages of analysis as to why we didn’t get the 10. I use the term analysis loosely.
