Bielsa would have had us relegated - little doubt about that. He had lost the dressing room.

Be careful you don't set yourself up for one mighty fall, there are some evil bastards here waiting for that very moment.
Let's all hope it doesn't arrive, expect loads and loads of Bert comparisons come season start, a lot of the same players will still be here and he's the previous, just imagine me coming on here if big Jesse has these guys playing out of their skin and going toe to toe with the big boys, I'll be straight on here with ...." Jeez this guys done a phenomenal job, who the fck needs Bert! What a transformation, knock me over with a feather and good riddance me old mucker !!!, Champions league here we come !!".....I like to be truthful me and write what my eyes tell me........Yes of course it will be vice versa.

Very well stated John!John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 2:04 pm Think you're barking at the wrong dog there, Sara.
The thank you was meant sincerely. We have differing opinions on may things, to be sure (we agree on a lot, too), but there is no point to be served rehashing the Bielsa decision. We have to move past that.
Marsch is fair game for criticism, assuming he deserves it, as is every coach and player. Criticizing Marsch, however, for failing to play a style for which the team was built is a bit unfair, don't you think? If we wanted someone to play the way the team was built for we'd not have brought Marsch in in the first place.
I think it's still a bit early in the game to be down on Marsch for his style of play or for the way he uses players who were not selected for his system. We'll have a much better idea of how successful his plan is going to be after we get back from Oz. There are encouraging signs. Aaronson is a great start and Kristensen looks to be the real deal, and we're not breaking the bank with either acquisition (assuming Kristensen comes on board). The transfer window is just opening. The next two or three weeks will tell us a lot.
I'm happy with Marsch to this extent: he tightened up the defense (especially the way we defend set pieces) and kept us up. We'll need a lot more from both him and the team if we're to stay up.
The truth is we don't really know how Big Jesse (Damn you Kenneth) is going to implement his ideas at Leeds. It's just too soon to evaluate that. Most people here have never watched his teams play. You and I happen to live in a country that offers a TON of Football/Futbol/Soccer on TV. And I'm in a position in life to take great advantage of that. I have found his teams to be quite a lot of fun to watch. And without going into some big tactical analysis that I am wholly unqualified to provide, I will say this. JM is a bit like his predecessor in that he is more focused on player roles than formations. The Dildo that people around here talk about is just names on a team sheet. Pay attention to the skill sets of the players being brought in, and the players being retained. Those will provide our early clues.

I'm looking forward to it Paul i really am, just hoping it's not a disaster first game we'll learn a lot from it, i'm hoping for some kind of Frankenstein formation of 4-2-2-2/4-1-4-1.......I don't want to see 4-2-3-1 that's the last thing i want to see especially if KP's still here.
You have a good idea of what to expect whereas i haven't a clue, the warm up games will be interesting although i didn't see any of Berts , i just waited for the first proper game.
You don't really have much time for 'fun' in the Prem, i think he'll need to hit the ground running.

Don't know how much money we have this window but I never heard anybody saying RB was an urgent signing. Better spending the money elsewhere as we have a squad to overhaul. Cover needed at GK, LB and CF; extra bodies and quality needed in CM and AM before we buy a RB, I think.

All managers can be criticised. Pep regularly gets criticised despite his success - people saying he overthinks things and then basically saying that if he'd done it a different way they'd have won - these experts sitting at their computers likely having never played football at a highe rlevel than 5 a side let alone managed.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:58 pm Why does he need to be criticised when he kept us up - am I missing something ?

Full credit to Marsch for keeping us up, was it convincing? Not really. As such it is valid to have concerns, and hopefully they will prove unfounded and the side will do well next season, if we play good football too then it is a bonus.
What grates though is when people give their opinion as if it were fact and then state something to support it when there is no evidence to support their statement (see the quoted statement). People are entitled to their opinion no matter what views they have but if they are makings arguments then they should at least offer supporting evidence - or expect people to disagree.

I absolutely agree, RWB seems like a luxury but it could be who we have a shot at. We'll spin it he can play LWB though and maybe he willRover wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 4:10 pm Don't know how much money we have this window but I never heard anybody saying RB was an urgent signing. Agreed , I'd like to see how Drameh goes, then Koch even Shacks , and if we get desperate Ayling. Surely enough options to take us up to NY at worse.Rover wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 4:10 pm Don't know how much money we have this window but I never heard anybody saying RB was an urgent signing. To diss them perhaps because they are a Marsch choice...is quite pathetic.
The Newells Old Boys (NOBs) wont be satisfied until their God returns.

And yet..the world and his mate..who know more about football than all on this forum....disagree.
Keep digging....your flawed God is gone....and until he comes back in some new capacity as a sucessful manager....his legacy at Leeds as a failed manager will haunt him.

Ive never read such absolute b/s as that.. regarding Leeds.Anonymous wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 4:23 pm Survival was out of our hands on the last day, we were dependent on the Burnley result. I don't see that the manager gets much credit for 'keeping us up' given those were the circumstances.
Pure speculation about Bielsa, and irrelevant to the discussion of Marsch's performance so far.
As i have stated elsewhere....the world and his mate recognised Bielsa was a busted flush..AND WOULD OF TAKEN ÙS DOWN.
Forum fools do not equal the overwhealming agreement on that.
Keep trying....its hilarious....your god is gone....deal with it and move on like genuine fans have.

Well how about some stats?weasel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 4:20 pm All managers can be criticised. Let's take Bielsa's last 12 games in charge, and compare the stats with Marsch's 12 games.
It's quite a fair comparison, as looking at the fixtures it's pretty even in terms of the levels of the teams that both managers faced in those 12 games. They both faced pretty well the same no of top teams, and both produced a win which was unexpected - away at West Ham with Bielsa, and away at Wolves with Marsch. That's where the similarities end though.
Here are the stats ;
Bielsa - last 12 games.
2 wins
8 losses
2 draws
16 goals scored
40 goals conceded
8 points
Marsch - 12 games in charge
4 wins
5 losses
3 draws
13 goals scored
19 goals conceded
15 points
I'm not sure how much more conclusive the facts could be - I mean you can tell some people that the Sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and they still wont accept it.

I've posted up similar stats, but they seem to get brushed under the carpet.
