Summer recruits last year that have been vital to us staying up are;

Gudmundsson
Justin (as you said)
Bijol
Stach (as you said)
Okafor
Nmecha
DCL

All of those apart from Nmecha are now regular starters.

7 good acquisitions with only Perri & Longstaff now not featuring that often but did earlier in the season.

That's pretty good recruitment if you ask me (I know you didn't) :)

Not sure what your evidence is of this “much weaker league”.
The bottom three aren’t weaker.
English sides doing well in European competitions.
Last season the league was so much stronger that the points we accumulated by 7th February would have been sufficient to avoid relegation.

The quality is definitely down.

Teans you'd expect to be doing well haven't, Chelsea, Spurs, even Liverpool (Slot is under huge pressure).

Even Villa and Newcastle have had long long periods of awful form.

Manure were awful till Carrick arrived and by their usual standards Man City are poor.

Even Arsenal if they win all their games will have the 4th lowest title winning points total in the last 20 years and lower than the Premier League average of 87 points usually required.

So imo it may be a more even league in terms of the gaps between the teams.

But it's a lower standard one.

Teams you don't expect to drop points are doing and regularly.

Inconsistency is more prevalent this season imo throughout the league.

It's more even, but its easier to pick up points as the gaps between the haves and have nots is nowhere near as large as usual.

Two ways to look at it. Is it a stronger league because the weaker teams are better?
I would certainly say it is a more competitive league with some teams doing better and some doing worse - but isn't that what happens every season?

Seriously Cjay?
ManU are so poor this season? Last season they ended up with 42 points in 15th place!! You don’t think they’ve improved?
If Arsenal win their remaining games they’ll have more points than Liverpool won the title with last season.
Man City are poor according to you, yet already have as many points as they accrued last season? I remember a season when they were so poor they got beaten by a ten man Leeds side …. 🙄😏

The league is weaker because players nowadays are phkn pansies!!! Any contact and they go into Oscar mode. Prem football is gash compared to how it was 10 years ago. One team that impresses me for never play acting: US! We are a shining light in this league when it comes to playing by the rules and playing properly…

So the rest of our new signings, Longstaff, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor, Nmecha, Bijol & Gudmundsson have produced 33 goals & 14 assists, which in your opinion are poor to bang average.

63% of our goals scored have come from Calvert-Lewin, Okafor, Nmecha, Longstaff Bijol & Gudmundsson.

76% when you include Stach & Justin.

Bijol is our 2nd highest assist maker after Aaronson.

Perri made three penalty saves against West Ham, playing a massive part in getting us to Wembley.

Relax 64 - it is just their underhand ways to diminish what Farke has achieved. The championship is stronger this year too apparently. Relegated teams automatically go straight back up. Teams that lose play-off finals never suffer hangovers etc etc.

It makes them happy.

Here is the rub.

We get 100 points in the Championship some posters suggested it was a weak league. Compared to the previous season.

We have obtained 43 points so far this season apparently thanks to Struijk. But only because the league is weaker.

All British teams made it to the last 8 of the champions league and it looks like Arsenal will be contesting the final.

Forest ( bottom 4 team are contesting in a semi final of europa league) with Villa like last year it would have been an all British final if not for the fixtures.
Palace are very likely to make the final of the conference League.
What exactly is weaker this season ? Can the theorem crew please provide their evidence.

I think it boils down to the league being weaker because we are in it. Also this current setup we have could not manage a fish supper never mind run a club.

I recall last season. Our prophets of doom banged this drum

1. The manager has no PL pedigree therefore he will fail.
2. The recruitment team are novices therefore we will fail.
3. The signings are all awful therefore we will fail.

Despite NOT playing out better players ( Geldhart, Joseph and Ramazanni) the really poor unfit signings have only helped us to 43 points because the quality of the league is worse.

Despite the PL made a net spend on new talent of 2.2B last season and got worse as is borne out by your points re Europe.

Apparently.

No it was weaker, that's the point.. We had the promoted clubs battered by a quality division above them.

They've improved since Carrick took over 14 games ago, they were awful before that.

And that proves it really as they may still get 3rd.

Villa have taken 12 points from their last 12 and are still level on points with 4th placed Liverpool.

That's true and the Liverpool title winning total was also poor and they've got worse.

Chelsea have got worse
Villa
Spurs
Newcastle

Man City even if they will all their games will have the 2nd lowest points total they've managed in 9 seasons.

If Arsenal win all their games it will still be lower than in 2 of the previous 3 seasons points wise.

I said when we were doing poorly I felt it was a weaker league, so despite the "aww but Daniel" cries I haven't just decided this

It's a more inconsistent league which makes it overall weaker imo.

You have more of a chance of taking points off everyone else than usual.

It's good for teams like us.

But it also helps your rivals as they also have the same chance (hence why many are concerned about West ham beating Arsenal)

Haven't people been claiming the Championship is weaker because of the points totals? Surely the same logic applies to the Premier League?

Its being talked about as being a weaker league only to make Leeds achievements seem less good. Its the way some fans like to think of their team,

All your points show is that the top 2 or 3 teams aren't as good as previously. I think anyone with eyes can see that Liverpool are not the team they were under Klopp and City are not the City of years gone by. But then the contrast is that teams like BRentford, Bournemouth, Brighton etc are better than they were and the 3rd bottom team looks to be finishing ona much higher points total than the season previously.

THat's what happens in a league, some teams are worse than the year before, some are better.

It isn't just them.

Villa,, Brighton, Forest, Newcastle , Tottenham will all finish on lower points totals then they've managed recently.

Brentford will also need to win all their games to beat the best they've managed.

As said before surely if the Championship being weaker based on the points logic as others have said the same logic applies to the Premier League?

The 3 relegated teams will finish on higher points? Why? Because they are better than others maybe? But also because the other teams aren't as good as before.

It's a closer league but also a more inconsistent one.

Such a shame that some of our fans find a way to deride the fantastic achievement that our football club has managed so far this season Greenie.
