Didn't look at al happy to be playing, maybe a backroom prob?Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 2:54 pm Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him leave in the summer if we can get £20mil or so for him.
Doesnt seem to fit the system or be what MB wants in midfield or as a striker.
Its very concerning imo because while the quality is there it never looks quite right to me wherever Rodders is.
His international future must be under threat also and the Spanish media have been quite scathing about his time.here.
Did the club make another costly error?
Wrong player for the system?
Or perhaps simply the wrong Rodrigo? £30mil for the one we got or £5mil more for the one we needed?

Way too early to say, we're too quick to judge here. We do need a true 10 but he stays for me at the moment.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
He's had an injury disrupted season and has not experienced the benefits of playing under Bielsa for a season - too early to write him off.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Agree, season has been too disrupted for him but he has shown signs. Sure he will come good.
Likewise for Llorente, struggled to get up and running due to injury but showing his quality now.

Class player, would be mad to let him go.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Re: Rodrigo Moreno
He's a keeper 100%. A class above what we had at the start of the season. He's a natural 10 for us that can back up as striker.
His struggles have all been fitness. He was looking good before covid. Then never got his stamina back. This new injury set him back again. But we'll see a lot more going forward.
I'm wondering if the setbacks mean he'll lose his spot in the Spain squad. Probably not. But a summer off might not be a bad thing.

He's a quality player and its a shame his run in the team was interupted. But at 30 I'm not sure we are in a position to let a £27 million player see out his career on our bench. I think if we get decent offers probably from Spain in the summer Orta will really have to think about itandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 5:23 pm He's a keeper 100%. He's not on the bench when he's fully fit. He's part of our strongest XI. Since his last injury he's had 45 minutes in the 23's and 2 substitute appearances. He's just working his way back again.WhiteRose wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 5:27 pm He's a quality player and its a shame his run in the team was interupted. At the moment he starts when fit but if we sign the new midfielders in the sumer which we desperately need will he still get in? I hope we keep him but can see an offer tempting us.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 5:41 pm He's not on the bench when he's fully fit. He's part of our strongest XI. Re: Rodrigo Moreno
Question of formation for me. Bielsa played 3 midfielders at the start of last season, which would make Rodrigo tough to include. We transitioned to 2 mids and a 10 late last season which is perfect for Rodrigo. I suppose it depends on whether that is Bielsa's preferred formation going forward or if he just uses it to suit the players he has.

So what do we make of suggestions from Spain, now picked up by local clickbait sites, that he is concerned about Leeds being harmful to his international prospects and that he wants out in the summer?

Doubt he is very happy with how his move has gone tbh.
Struggled for fitness, been shoehorned into a position he doesnt suit, did he expect to play as a sort of number 8? Highly unlikely.
He has lost his starting role for his country (understandably, his rivals have had better seasons).
He is a bit isolated (no idea who came with him but in these strange times its not so easy for family and friends to visit)
And its been frankly underwhelming, he is as frustrated as anyone I'm sure, not how he imagined his 1st season going.
If Rodrigo did want to go home would anyone be that shocked?
If we are genuinely interested in Lucas Ocampos then a swap deal would be a decent idea given Sevilla are one of the clubs names as interested in Rodders.

I think its BS. The only thing that's held Rodrigo back this season has been injuries and Covid. Nothing to do with Leeds.Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 7:43 pm So what do we make of suggestions from Spain, now picked up by local clickbait sites, that he is concerned about Leeds being harmful to his international prospects and that he wants out in the summer?

Agree with this, he looked excellent prior to Covid just never been fully fit.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:25 pm I think its BS. The only thing that's held Rodrigo back this season has been injuries and Covid. Nothing to do with Leeds.
A good summer behind him and he'll be massive for us next season, very much a key part of the team for me.
Don't go along with he's 30 years old so on the decline, players that look after themselves are fine to at least 33/34.

I think it must be one hell of a culture shock to move from Spain to Yorkshire - particularly after a long wet and cold winter in lockdown, and without being able to visit family back in Spain. We lost Saiz for that reason. Rodrigo is Brazilian, so to go from Brazil to Spain to Yorkshire must be pretty tough. His loan at Bolton didn't last very long.Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 7:43 pm So what do we make of suggestions from Spain, now picked up by local clickbait sites, that he is concerned about Leeds being harmful to his international prospects and that he wants out in the summer?
I honestly don't know what the idea was of his transfer given that it clearly was not to play as a 9.

?
It was a one season loan and strangely it lasted one season so don't see your point.
Not as though they could have kept him.
He was 20 years old and Benfica sent him out for experience as hadn't played in their first team. They then took him back as you do when the loan is completed.
After returning he became a regular for 3 seasons before moving to Valencia.

Hardly a culture shock given that he'd previously had a season playing for Bolton so would have known exactly what sort of climate etc he was moving to.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 4:40 pm I think it must be one hell of a culture shock to move from Spain to Yorkshire - particularly after a long wet and cold winter in lockdown, and without being able to visit family back in Spain. Hasn't Harrison been on loan for 3 seasons ? If it works out there's always scope to do another loan for more experience. The point is it didn't work out with him struggling with the physicality and probably the way of life - he said at the time that the way of life is very different to Spain 'but I'm here for the football ' or words to that effect. That sounds to me like someone saying they can endure a way of life for a short time in order to to further their professional interests.whiteroseboy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 5:48 pm ?

Totally different to Harrison, Benfica wanted him back as he played in their first team the following year.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 8:19 am Hasn't Harrison been on loan for 3 seasons ? By no stretching of the imagination would Jack have returned to Man City and gone anywhere near their first team following his first 12 month loan here.
The other difference we have the option to buy Jack in the loan deal, Bolton didn't have that option.
Control once the loan is over is with the parent Club.
